Adam Driver is set to take on his next biopic role, as he has been transformed into Enzo Ferrari in the new film of the same name by Michael Mann. Ferrari will follow the life of Enzo Ferrari as the car company entered the 1,000-mile Mille Miglia race in 1957. Enzo Ferrari will be around 59 years old in the film, and with Driver only 38, he has been transformed to look much older than he is, which you can see above.

Enzo Ferrari (Adam Driver) was born in 1898, and by the time the 1,000-mile Mille Miglia race happens, his life is in a bit of turmoil. The Ferrari film will go through Enzo’s crisis as the company that he started with his wife 10 years earlier is heading toward bankruptcy. Also, Enzo’s marriage to his wife Laura is in dire straits, especially after the loss of their son, and their attempts to accept their only other son.

Enzo Ferrari then rolls the dice on the 1,000-mile Mille Miglia, thus making him a legend in the car world. The film stars Adam Driver as Enzo Ferrari, Penelope Cruz as Laura Ferrari, Shailene Woodley as Enzo’s mistress Lina Lardi, Patrick Dempsey as famed racecar driver Piero Taruffi, Jack O’Connell as race Peter Collins, Sarah Godon as Linda Christian, and Gabriel Leone as driver Alfonso De Portago.

Adam Driver is coming off another role where he portrayed Italian Gucci heir, Maurizio Gucci. His performance was heavily lauded, likely leaving him to easily find his way to portray Enzo Ferrari in this upcoming biopic film. Michael Mann is also a celebrated director who directed Heat, The Insider, Collateral, Miami Vice, and many more.

The script for Ferrari was written by Troy Kennedy Martin and is based on the book Enzo Ferrari – The Man and the Machine written by Brock Yates. The film is being planned for a worldwide release in 2023, though there is no timetable about which month the Mann-led feature is aiming for. With casting announcements already revealed, and the first image of Adam Driver as Enzo Ferrari released, we would assume that a trailer should be coming in the next few months.

Adam Driver has truly set himself apart as an actor that can embody many roles, as he has been fantastic in House of Gucci, The Last Duel, and Marriage Story, the latter securing him a Best Actor nomination at the 2020 Academy Awards. While Driver became massively known for his portrayal of Kylo Ren in the last Star Wars trilogy, he has pulled away from that role by showcasing the range that he has as an actor. We would assume that the man is going to win an Academy Award quite soon.

Ferrari has a 2023 planned release date, and with the Adam Driver-lead feature currently filming, we would assume it will be in the fall of 2023 that the film is set to be released. That would be perfect timing, as most of the fall movies released are aiming for Academy Award recognition. We can’t wait to see Driver in this new biopic.
