See The Cast Of A 90s Cult Classic Reunited
A cast reunion of Twin Peaks actors was held this weekend at Spooky Empire in Orlando, and there is a great picture.
Fans of the hit cult series Twin Peaks are feeling really nostalgic after members of the cast reunited for a convention appearance, and a pictures was posted online. The cast of the David Lynch drama were at Spooky Empire, a pop culture and horror convention in Orlando, this past weekend for a rare cast reunion of the surviving cast members, according to a report by Deadline.
The picture was posted on Instagram page of Mädchen Amick, who played Shelley Johnson on the series. “Precious moments with looong time friends…Feelin all the feels,” she wrote of the cast reunion picture, taken at a restaurant dinner table, and sadly no pie or coffee is visible, only glasses of wine.
Although it has been more than 30 years since the premiere, true fans can instantly recognize the cast members, which included series lead Kyle MacLachlan, who played Agent Dale Cooper; Danna Ashbrook, who played Bobby Briggs; Sherilyn Fenn, who played Audrey Horne; and Kimmy Robertson, who played Lucy Moran. Of course, no Twin Peaks cast reunion would be complete without Sheryl Lee, who played Laura Palmer, whose death was the focal point for all the disturbing, oft-kilter drama (and dark humor) in the series.
The show, created by Mark Frost and David Lynch, ran for two seasons and 30 episodes from 1990 to 1991, earning 18 Emmy nominations and winning two, and spawning not only a prequel film, Fire Walk With Me (1992), but a third season on Showtime in 2017, which added another 18 episodes.
The series centered around MacLachlan’s Agent Cooper, who travels to the remote northwest and the town of Twin Peaks to investigate the murder of Laura Palmer. While there, he not only finds himself intertwined with the private lives of the town’s eclectic residents (and eclectic is a mild term), he uncovers a conspiracy, dirty secrets, and even some supernatural phenomena. Any attempt to explain the plot in any more detail would be a disservice and a confusing mess, and it is one of the reasons the show, and its stunning visuals and haunting moodiness, must be seen to be truly experienced and appreciated.
Sadly, any true cast reunion would be incomplete, as a number of cast members have died in recent years. Lenny Von Dohlen, who played Harold Smith, died in July, and Kenneth Welsh, who played Windom Earle, died earlier this year. Julee Cruise, who sang in the series and in many of David Lynch’s other productions, died in June. Warren Frost, who played Dr. Will Hayward, died in 2017, and Peggy Lipton, who played Norma Jennings and was the mother of Rashida Jones, died in 2019 after a battle with cancer.
If three seasons, a movie, and a cast reunion photo still aren’t enough for you, series co-creator Mark Frost wrote a book, The Secret History of Twin Peaks, which fills in the gaps of the series’ major characters after the first two seasons. Frost wrote a second book, Twin Peaks: The Final Dossier in 2017. Jennifer Lynch, the daughter of David Lynch and a director on The Walking Dead, wrote a companion book, The Secret Diary of Laura Palmer, in 2011.
