The Enterprise E, first debuted in Star Trek: First Contact, is a Sovereign Class starship and intended to be the most powerful vessel in Starfleet’s arsenal. But, for some bizarre reason, the powers that be behind Star Trek have never really used it much.

In fact the only Sovereign Class we’ve ever really seen at all is the Enterprise E, in her three movie outings. That changed this week when Lower Decks brought the Sovereign Class back in the form of a ship called the Wayfairer. Here she is…

The ship appeared in the Star Trek: Lower Decks season 3 episode “Crisis Point 2: Paradoxus” as part of a fantasy holodeck program designed by Boimler. So of course Boimler would use a Sovereign as his story’s hero ship, it’s the best ship Starfleet has.

Little has changed about the iconic design and the Lower Decks team made sure to give us plenty of beauty shots of her. Here’s a few comparisons between the animated Lower Decks version of the ship and how the Sovereign appeared in Star Trek’s movies…

The Star Trek: Lower Decks team has done it again. Their version of the ship is, aside from some extra bright glows, identical. Exactly the way a Sovereign should be. Hopefully this will prompt Star Trek at large to finally bring their best ship out of mothballs and use it more, maybe even in Star Trek: Picard season 3 where they seemed to have already moved on to the Odyssey class Enterprise F.
