At long last, we have been given the first look at Marvel’s Secret Invasion. This new trailer has come packed with showing the new look of Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury. The man looks a bit more grizzled this time around, and he has a far more espionage-based outfit. He is in mostly dark colors with a beanie on. But more exciting than that, we also get to see Emilia Clarke in the trailer. She looks quite intense, but we are still not sure exactly who she is playing. The rumors are that she is going to be taking on the role of G’iah, who is a famous Skrull in Secret Invasion. G’iah is initially helping the Skrulls with their invasion of Earth but begins to help humanity when she sees the brutality enacted because of the invasion.
Joining Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Emilia Clarke in her secret role for Secret Invasion is Colbie Smulders as Agent Mariah Hill, Martin Freeman as Everett Ross, Ben Mendelsohn as Talos, and Don Cheadle as James Rhodes. Cheadle did appear at the Disney D23 Expo, which revealed that the fallout from Secret Invasion is going to lead into Armor Wars, which will focus on War Machine. Also, we could be seeing Ironheart play a part in Armor Wars as well, as Riri Williams creates a more advanced version of the Iron Man suit. She is going to be premiering in the MCU in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever before taking on a series of her own. See how the MCU blends itself together?
We are going to have to wait a bit to see Secret Invasion, as it is part of the beginning of the MCU Phase 5 rollout. First up in Phase 5 is Ant-Man: Quantumania. This new sequel is set to bring in Kang the Conqueror and is planned for February 17th, 2023. Next up is Secret Invasion, which has just been given a spring 2023 designation. This could mean that won’t have to wait too long after Ant-Man 3 to see Emilia Clarke reveal her role. To be honest, we might have to wait for a secondary trailer to see if she is a Skrull. It would be a good bet that she is, but that information has not yet leaked.
Emilia Clarke in Secret Invasion now puts the woman in Star Wars and Marvel so far. We wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if she is invited into a DC venture sometime soon. The rumor is that she might be the replacement for Amber Heard in Aquaman 2, but that is just a rumor. At least we get to see her in the MCU.
Marvel’s Secret Invasion will debut in the spring of 2023. Emilia Clarke joins a fantastic cast that is led by Samuel L. Jackson. Honestly, we expected the series to be a bit more lighthearted, but it appears as if that’s not the case. The above trailer just filled us all full of worry for the heroes and everyone involved. Anyone one of them could end up being a Skrull.
