Last week, DC announced that Young and the Restless actress Sasha Calle will be the next actress to play Supergirl. Calle will be making her debut in The Flash, which is set to be released on November 4th, 2022. But with over a year to wait, one artist has taken to Instagram to show their interpretation of what Calle might look like in the role.

Bosslogic is a digital artist on Instagram who has brought to life various ideas tied to comic books, whether it’s making bejeweled rapper Lil Uzi Vert look like Vision, or turning Emma Stone’s Cruella de Vil into Harley Quinn. But his version of Sasha Calle as Supergirl is pretty straightforward, taking the actresses’ likeness and placing her in the Supergirl outfit. Some in the comments are complaining that Supergirl is blonde and that Calle in this image is a brunette, but hey, Calle also isn’t an alien either, so maybe use some imagination?

But Sasha Calle is an intriguing choice for the role, considering she has a pretty light IMDB page. Calle has played Lola Rosales on The Young and the Restless since 2018, and she received a Daytime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Younger Performer in a Drama Series last year. Beyond that, Calle’s only other credit is starring in the YouTube miniseries Socially Awkward. The Flash director Andy Muschietti said that he looked at over four hundred auditions before deciding that Sasha Calle was perfect for the role. According to Deadline, Calle will be joining The Flash team soon, as the production is set to begin filming next month.

Prior to Sasha Calle playing Kara Zor-El / Supergirl, the role was first played by Helen Slater in 1984’s Supergirl. The character also appeared on the seventh season of Smallville, played by Laura Vandervoort, while recently, Melissa Benoist played the character on Supergirl, which will conclude in its upcoming sixth season. Supergirl has appeared in several animated series and video games over the years, and in 2018, Warner Bros. and DC announced they were moving forward with a new Supergirl film. It is unclear, however, if Calle will also be starring in this film, or if this proposed project is still even in development.

Despite The Flash being in development for almost a decade, little is known about this project so far. The Flash has had several different directors and writers join and leave the project, while Ezra Miller has been signed on to play Barry Allen / The Flash since 2014. Andy Muschietti has said that The Flash will incorporate parts of the Flashpoint storyline into the film, and we know that Ben Affleck will reprise his role of Batman for the film. There have been rumors that Michael Keaton is coming back as Bruce Wayne / Batman from another universe, but this casting has yet to be confirmed. So far, only Miller, Affleck, and Sasha Calle are confirmed for The Flash.

With The Flash still a while away, Bosslogic’s interpretation of Sasha Calle as Supergirl might be the closest thing we get to see the actress in the role for quite some time.
