See Lady Gaga Recreate The Best Scene From Wednesday
Mother Monster, a.k.a. Lady Gaga, went full goth girl this week when she recreated the Wednesday dance from Tim Burton’s Addams Family series, as reported by Comicbook.com. Little monsters and Wednesday fans alike are going nuts for the “Bad Romance” singer’s rendition of the dance, choreographed by actress Jenny Ortega, that is now going viral on Tik Tok.
Lady Gaga’s Wednesday dance video marks the singer’s first return to Tik Tok after a two-month hiatus. The 18-second clip is filmed in black and white with a vintage filter that adds to the creepy and gothic aesthetic. Before jumping into the dance routine, Gaga first gets into character by donning the perfect hair, makeup, and outfit for the occasion.
The video opens with Lady Gaga smearing her makeup across her face and eyes in a sped-up montage before pulling argyle knee-length socks up her calves and snapping the buckle on a pair of sleek black pumps. The clip then cuts to Gaga dressed in a sickly Victorian child-inspired outfit, including a lace collar that clenches around her throat and covers her black top. Lady Gaga completed the look with an oversized black blazer that added to the gothic Wednesday aesthetic.
In a perfect performance, Lady Gaga managed to follow the choreography from the Wednesday series while also adding her own specific spice to the routine. The singer included her classic monster claw dance moves and threw in a few snarly facial expressions. The singer posted the dance video over her own song, “Bloody Mary,” and captioned the video “Bloody Wednesday.”
“Bloody Mary” is from Lady Gaga’s Born This Way album, released in 2011, and is one of the pop singer’s more gothic songs, making it pair extremely well with the viral Wednesday dance. Naturally, social media users are ecstatic that the singer, who, like Wednesday Addams, is known for being a little out there, jumped on this dance trend so quickly.
Jenny Ortega, who plays Wednesday in Tim Burton’s Netflix series of the same name, originated the dance moves, even though she does not consider herself a dancer or a choreographer. The actress claims she developed the dance after watching footage of goths dancing in clubs in the 80s, as well as Lene Lovich music videos and Fosse. Though the actress admitted to being shy about her dance scene because of her lack of experience, her moves have since captured the attention of social media users, Lady Gaga, and fans of the Wednesday series alike.
While Lady Gaga has taken the internet by storm with her Wednesday dance moves, fans are excited to see the singer and actress on the silver screen again. Lady Gaga proved her penchant for acting when she appeared as The Countess in American Horror Story: Hotel, then she captured audiences’ hearts as Ally in A Star is Born with Bradly Cooper. The singer and actress was most recently seen on screen in the Gucci biopic House of Gucci and will soon be taking over the role of Harley Quinn in Joker: Folie a Deux with Joaquin Phoenix— a part that former Harley Quinn actress Margot Robbie has said she is excited for Lady Gaga to take on.
