See Sebastian Stan As Luke Skywalker In The Mandalorian
New fan art depicts Sebastian Stan as Star Wars' Luke Skywalker.
Sebastian Stan is a superstar in his own right, but it’s hard to deny he has an uncanny resemblance to Mark Hamill when Hamill was younger. This is why plenty of people have said that Stan would be the perfect person to play young Luke Skywalker in future Star Wars projects. Now, we have an idea of what that might look like thanks to this Tweet from BossLogic:
Luke Skywalker has played a small but pivotal role in The Mandalorian and Grogu’s journey, and Sebastian Stan probably could have been cast in the role if this show came out a decade ago. Of course, now we have crazy technology that can allow Mark Hamill himself to play a younger version of Luke Skywalker without anyone having to replace him. Hamill has played the younger Skywalker in episodes of The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett thanks to deep fake and visual effects.
So, unless Mark Hamill feels like he’s done playing Luke Skywalker for good, we probably won’t see Sebastian Stan take on the role anytime soon. With the next season of The Mandalorian right around the corner, fans are hoping that we might get to see Luke yet again. The last time we saw him, he was training Grogu in the Jedi ways before Grogu decided to go his own way and reunite with Pedro Pascal’s Din Djarin instead.
Even if Sebastian Stan doesn’t appear in any Star Wars projects in the future, he’s still employed by Disney in their other multi-billion dollar franchise. Stan has been playing Bucky Barnes, aka the Winter Soldier, for over a decade in the MCU, and that doesn’t look to be slowing down anytime soon. He most recently appeared as Bucky in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier series, and now he has at least one more film on the way, along with rumored appearances in other MCU films.
We know that we’ll see Sebastian Stan reprise his Bucky role in the upcoming Thunderbolts film. Thunderbolts, similar to DC‘s Suicide Squad concept, sends in villains and morally flexible characters to do top-secret missions. While Bucky is definitely on the hero side of things now, he’ll still be teaming up with Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova, David Harbour’s Red Guardian, Hannah John-Kamen’s Ghost, Wyatt Russell’s US Agent, and Olga Kurylenko’s Taskmaster.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ Valentina Allegra de Fontaine will run the Thunderbolts team. Harrison Ford will also appear as Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, replacing the late William Hurt. We can look forward to seeing the Thunderbolts film on July 26, 2024.
There are also rumors that we might see Sebastian Stan pop up as Bucky in the upcoming Captain America: New World Order. It definitely seems likely that this rumor could end up being true since Bucky has been in every Captain America film so far and starred alongside Anthony Mackie (the new Captain America) in the aforementioned The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. We’ll find out if these rumors are true when Captain America: New World Order hits theaters on May 3, 2024.
