Movies being delayed has been a common issue for many big studios, especially lately, but Paramount has shuffled its release schedule in a far more favorable way. For those who are impatiently waiting to see Scream 6, the movie has now been moved up by nearly a month, which is fantastic news. The sequel to one of the longest-standing horror franchises will now be released on March 10th, 2023, versus its initial March 31st release date.

Scream 6 was initially supposed to be released on March 31st but has now been moved up by a whopping three weeks, which is great news for all of us wondering where the franchise is going to go next. This is especially great considering all the news surrounding the new sequel hasn’t been that great. The unfortunate news that was revealed earlier this year is that Neve Campbell aka Sidney Prescott will not be part of the sixth movie, as she stated that a deal could not be stuck between her and the studio.

Scream 6 might be heavily anticipated, but we would imagine that it might not be as successful considering one of the biggest legacy characters, arguably the most important character, will not be part of the new movie. However, the Scream franchise has also never been afraid of taking some wild chances (spoiler incoming!), i.e., killing off Dewey in Scream 5, so this could all be part of some more elaborate fake-out to see Sidney Prescott’s return in the new sequel.

Neve Campbell did seem quite serious, so her noninvolvement in Scream 6 might be accurate, though we are hoping for some grand reveal at the end that sees her return. Courtney Cox aka Gale Weathers is the only remaining legacy character left, and she will certainly have some big shoes to fill, though we would imagine that she is going to be just fine in the next movie. Cox even went on record to say that she thinks her character is immortal, which would be a hilarious reveal for Gale.

Joining Courtney Cox in Scream 6 is Melissa Barrera as Sam Carpenter, Jenny Ortega as Tara Carpenter, Jasmin Savoy Brown as Mindy Meeks-Martin, Mason Good as Chad Meeks-Martin, and Hayden Panettiere as Kirby Reed. Panettiere was featured in Scream 4 and is finally making her way back to the franchise. The plot thus far is that the kids are finally getting away from Woodsboro, only to find themselves tracked by another Ghostface copycat in New York City.

Scream 6 is a new chapter that is likely going to completely change the franchise, especially considering that it is the first time that no one is being stalked in Woodsboro, and presumably not being revolved around Sidney Prescott. We are not sure where the story is going to go, and the hope is that Sidney is involved in some way. We would love to find out that Neve Campbell lied about not being part of the movie, only to be revealed as the killer in the end.
