Last year, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World celebrated its decade anniversary. Edgar Wright’s adaptation of the graphic novel series has only grown in popularity over the years, becoming a cult favorite, partly due to its insane action and pop culture references. Also celebrating its decade anniversary was Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game, which was released in August 2010 on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, before it was taken off online stores on December of 2014. The game recently received a physical rerelease, which was a massive success, selling over 25,000 copies in three hours.
Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game – Complete Edition, which includes all previous game DLC, was released on January 14, 2021 in a physical version through Limited Run Games. The company specializes in games that have only received digital releases, or deserve rereleases. While the game’s rerelease is available digitally through the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, Limited Run Games’ physical release was a gigantic success for the company. Considering fans have asked about the game for so long, they’ve mentioned its release in their Twitter bio, it’s not a surprise this was a huge hit.
Limited Run Games currently offers three different physical versions of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game – Complete Edition. The standard version is available for $34.99 on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, and comes with reversible cover art, a full-color instruction booklet, and a Clash at Demonhead concert ticket. The Classic Edition of the game is available for $54.99, and also includes a deluxe plastic clamshell case that makes the release look like a Sega Genesis game, plus a sticker sheet with game art, an overworld map, and a physical soundtrack CD featuring music from Anamanaguchi.
But for those who have been eagerly anticipating this game’s release, there is Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game K.O. Edition for $139.99. Not only does it come with everything that comes with the Classic Edition, but it also comes with a Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World: The Game guide book, a CD and cassette version of the Anamanaguchi soundtrack, full-size wooden drum sticks, three Sex Bob-omb guitar picks, a Scott Pilgrim loading screen enamel pin, two sticker sheets, and 7 Evil-Exes trading cards. This all comes in a hard-shell roadie collector’s case, which when opened, the box creates a pop-up scene of Sex Bob-omb, complete with lights and music.
Limited Run Games has said that this is their biggest release of all time, which makes sense considering how long fans have been asking for it. But the game’s rerelease isn’t the only way to celebrate ten years of Scott Pilgrim. The beloved soundtrack to the movie is also getting a special edition vinyl release, and Edgar Wright has said that he had plans to rerelease the film in theaters, but unfortunately, due to theater closings, this plan has been delayed for now.
But the success of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game – Complete Edition has shown that fans of Scott Pilgrim are fine with waiting if it means more Scott Pilgrim material in the world. At this point, it seems the decade celebration is going to keep going for quite some time.
