Walking Dead’s Mid-Season Finale May Introduce Another Character From The Comic

Who will the new arrival be?

Season three of The Walking Dead has been spectacular and part of the success of this season is due to the additions of comic book fan-favorite characters, storylines, and locations. Although sometimes the TV series diverges from the book on which it’s based, it’s always great when they line up. But could the TV series introduce another fan-favorite from the comic book this season? The comic’s creator and executive producer of The Walking Dead likes to think so.

Robert Kirkman says to EW.com, “There’s a new character added… A big deal fan favorite from the comic book is introduced into the show in this episode, so be on the lookout for that.” Episode eight is the mid-season finale of The Walking Dead and will air on December 2nd 2012.

There were rumors swirling about actor Chad Coleman (The Wire) hanging around Atlanta, Georgia where the TV series shoots. Many speculate that Coleman was brought in to play the character of Tyrese, former NFL linebacker and Rick Grimes’ right-hand man. The character is completely badass as he kills walkers, secures the prison, and finds time to hook up with both Carol and Michonne.

On the TV series, the character of Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) has been the Tyrese surrogate as Rick’s right-hand man and Carol’s “love-interest,” but it would be a great addition to the cast and narrative of The Walking Dead if Tyrese comes into the picture.

Although it is unclear if this will happen (Kirkman never said who the new character would be), it would probably take place in a different way from the comic book. Tyrese was already part of Rick’s group of survivalists when they went into the prison, but it feels like Tyrese may pop up in the Governor’s Woodbury gated community. It’s clear that the two storylines in the TV series will come together at some point this season.

The Walking Dead’s mid-season finale will air on December 2nd 2012 on AMC.
