Walking Dead Images To Take You Home
“The Suicide King,” the midseason return of AMC’s zombie drama, The Walking Dead, may have been the most-watched episode in franchise history, but, in my humble opinion, it left much to be desired. A muddled, directionless mess, there’s still hope that this was just a minor misstep, and that season three, which has been the strongest one up to this point, will be able to right the ship.
We’ll see how this goes starting on Sunday, February 17th, with the episode entitled “Home.” What that means exactly remains to be seen, but from the look of these new pictures—from both Shock Till You Drop and TV Line—a big part of that may be Andrea (Laurie Holden) finally returning to her metaphorical home, or at least to her long-lost friends.
Take a look at her face and tell me she’s not starting to get sick of the antics of her one-eyed boyfriend, The Governor (David Morrissey). The seeds have been sown, and now she looks like a woman who’s had just about enough. Maybe I’m reading too much into her expressions, but that’s what I want to believe. We can only hope.
There’s also another peek at daily life for Rick’s (Andrew Lincoln) group of survivors, in the prison. This picture makes it look like the gang is standing around, engaged in another long, pointless discussion. Let’s hope that’s not the case.
And Michonne (Danai Gurira) just doesn’t look right with a gun in her hand instead of her trademark sword. Still, if they actually do something with her character—I’ll take anything at this point—they can give her whatever damn weapon they want. You have to wonder if we’re in for a Michonne/Governor rematch this week. That sounds like a damn fine time.
“Home” is the 10th episode in season three, and there’s a lot to deal with. Tyreese (Chad L. Coleman) and his crew showed up and threw a wrench into the works, a potential attack from the Governor and Woodbury weighs heavy on the minds of the survivors, Daryl (Norman Reedus) left the group to hang out with his brother Merle (Michael Rooker), and let us not forget Rick’s little meltdown at the end of “The Suicide King.” Let’s hope The Walking Dead makes progress instead falling into stagnation, where the characters sit around and endlessly debate their next step.
