Marvel Replacing Brie Larson With AI?
With Marvel’s next big film, The Marvels, set to hit theaters this November, the studio has been pumping out a slew of promotional material to help get audiences to the cinema. But, some fans aren’t so sure that the studios’ artwork practices are completely up to par as a newly released poster shows a version of Brie Larson that we’re very unfamiliar with. In an X post shared by the account @eplaygeek, followers have been commenting on the strange version of the actress that appears before them, including that it could be the result of AI.
From her standalone film in Captain Marvel to appearances in Avengers: Endgame, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and Ms. Marvel, MCU audiences have seen her face on the big screen over and over with this poster looking nothing like her.
Looking completely unrecognizable in The Marvel’s latest poster, Brie Larson’s brown eyes are positively glowing, looking like an undead member of Twilight’s Cullen family. While her suit and hair appear to be on point, the rest of the character’s face is edited beyond belief with the star sporting a brand new nose and a completely different facial structure.
As only sassy fans can do, the comments quickly lit up with burn after burn and one fan even referred to it as Larson’s long-lost and very fake sister, “Gouda Larson.”
It’s unclear what Marvel was thinking when it released this very doctored-up version of Brie Larson, Iman Vellani, and Teyonah Parris to get prospective fans pumped for the film. After all, not only is Larson one of the biggest stars in the industry but she’s been in a handful of Marvel projects over the years.
New promotional material for The Marvels has fans wondering if Marvel is using artificial intelligence to doctor images of Brie Larson.

With one major issue brought up in both the ongoing writers’ and actors’ strike being the use of artificial intelligence in the movie-making business, Marvel’s poster could be proof of the cause. It’s believed that Brie Larson and her co-stars were AI-generated for the promo material, with the cheaper option being carried out over hiring a real-life artist to do the piece.
With actors worried that their likeness could be used in the future by AI and writers unsure how the technology could affect their careers, The Marvels poster casts a dark shadow on what’s to come.
As for Marvel’s next production, The Marvels stars Brie Larson as Captain Marvel, Iman Vellani as Ms. Marvel, and Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau in a story that sees the three women’s powers and lives connected through a glitch in reality. Making her MCU debut, the film is helmed by Candyman director Nia DaCosta with a screenplay penned by WandaVision’s Megan McDonnell.

Also starring in the feature will be Samuel L. Jackson, Park Seo-Joon, Zawe Ashton, Zenobia Shroff, Saagar Shaikh, Lashana Lynch, Randall Park, Gary Lewis, Mohan Kapur, Shamier Anderson, Daniel Ings, Colin Stoneley, and Jessica Zhou.
With Nia DaCosta worried about how promoting for The Marvels will go as members of SAG-AFTRA are unable to go on promotional tours, Marvel isn’t doing itself any favors by releasing a poster that makes Brie Larson look like she jumped through a wormhole.
