Japanese Poster For Storage 24 Digs Its Claws Into You
Magnet Releasing has a pattern. They take a movie, often a smaller international genre piece, use an on-demand release and grassroots campaign to build up hype and momentum, which all builds up to an eventual theatrical release. This has been their strategy for a number of years, and it is the exact plan of attack for Johannes Roberts’ new sci-fi horror film, Storage 24. Currently available via VOD, Storage 24 is slated for a limited run in theaters beginning on January 11th.
Storage 24 has a sweet new Japanese poster that does a pretty strong job of making you want to see it.
This one-sheet has a voyeuristic feel to it. Allowing you to only see a thin slice of the action, this image makes it look like you’re watching some horrific incident from a hidden vantage point. You can’t help but feel like you’re trapped in a closet, much like R. Kelly, while a horrific monster is about to eviscerate your friend. It brings you into the event, raises the question of whether or not you should take action, and implicates you in the death when you ultimately choose to do nothing. That’s not bad work for a single poster.
When a military plane crashes in the heart of London, unleashing a highly classified cargo, all hell breaks loose across the city. Completely unaware of what’s going on outside, Charlie (Noel Clarke) and Shelley (Antonia Campbell-Hughes), with best friends Mark (Colin O’Donoghue) and Nikki (Laura Haddock) in tow, are at their shared storage locker, dividing up their mutual possessions after a nasty breakup. Little do they know that a vicious alien killing machine is prowling the corridors of Storage 24. When the power goes out, they’re stuck in a secure building, with a hungry predator, and no clear avenues of escape.
