Interstellar Drops A Wet New Poster To Round Out Your Week
This has been a big week for Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar. The last few days have each seen a new poster revealed, and there is even a cool new interactive game where you can build your own solar systems and get a feel for the space elements of the film (that’s kind of an ingenious strategy if you ask us). But that wasn’t all they had in store for us, not even at all, and the picture is back with yet another one sheet to round out the week. Why not, what the hell?
One of the earlier offerings showed star Matthew McConaughey walking around on the surface of what appears to be a distant alien world. This latest addition to your ever-expanding poster collection give you a different perspective on that world, or perhaps takes you to an entirely new one. The plot revolves around a future where global climate change has progressed to such an extent that continued human inhabitation is no longer going to be possible. As such, a team comprised of McConaughey and Anne Hathaway, and maybe some others too, blasts off into space, through a newly discovered wormhole, in order to search for a new planet for us to colonize and eventually fuck up.
So it’s entirely possible this team journeys to multiple different planets looking for a suitable match, and this one certainly appears drastically different from the other. The first is grim and grey and looks arid and dusty. In this fresh glimpse, however, there is definitely some water around, and a lot of it, like maybe vast oceans of the stuff. In fact, it looks very much like the opposite of other world. It may be a bit stormy, but it’s bright and actually looks kind of nice, assuming there’s a beach or any sort of land nearby. Then again, if there was any dry land in the vicinity, they probably wouldn’t have set down in the drink, would they? But, if the entire human race is willing to relocate to houseboats and sleep in water wings, what the hell, this planet might be our new home.
Aside from what’s already here, there isn’t much to know about the plot. We are hoping, however, that all of this recent promotional activity means that we’re entering the home stretch marketing wise and that maybe, just maybe, we’ll see a new trailer sometime in the not so distant future. Every last one they’ve unveiled thus far has been spectacular, so we can’t wait to see what they do next.
Interstellar stars McConaughey and Hathaway, along with Jessica Chastain, Ellen Burstyn, John Lithgow, Michael Caine, Casey Affleck, Wes Bentley, Bill Irwin, Mackenzie Foy, and David Gyasi. That’s not a half bad cast, but when you make three blockbuster Batman movies, you can assemble that kind of talent in one place at the drop of a hat. The film opens everywhere in IMAX on November 7.
