Guardians Of The Galaxy Images Feature The Team In Action
Star-Lord and the rest are ready for their close-up.
Although the movie doesn’t come out for another six months, Disney and Marvel are gearing up for the release of Guardians of the Galaxy. The new comic book movie from Marvel Studios isn’t exactly a household name, so the movie studio is doing everything in their power to spread the word about the cosmic team. If Guardians of the Galaxy is a successful movie, then Marvel will most likely take bigger risks to introduce films featuring their more obscure characters such as Doctor Strange and Black Panther to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Marvel released three new images from Guardians of the Galaxy to get people ready for the film’s first teaser trailer, which drops tomorrow.
The first official look at the new Marvel movie will premiere on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on ABC. Chris Pratt is scheduled to appear on the late-night talk show to introduce the new teaser trailer. The broadcast will begin at 11:35 ET/PT, so set your DVRs. The images released to promote the new trailer are freakin’ awesome!! There’s one thing we know for sure: if the film is terrible, at least it will be fun and full of personality.
One of the shots shows the cosmic team of peacekeepers in a very cool “hero” shot, and we get to see how big Rocket Raccoon is compared to the rest of the team. Although Rocket is small, he’s carrying a giant gun that is fit for someone twice his size. There’s also an image of Star-Lord’s ship, the Milano. I’m slightly disappointed that it’s not “Ship,” but maybe the Milano will be a hybrid of the two spaceships. We also get a good look at Chris Pratt as Star-Lord. In less than 48 hours, we’re going to be watching the first teaser trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy. Now isn’t that exciting?
A brief plot description was attached to the images from a longer article on USA Today. It gives a little more insight into how the team meets and how the film’s villain will play into the bigger picture.
[The Guardians’] stories converge in the space prison Kyln. After the characters break out, they venture to Knowhere (the severed head of a celestial being that serves as a hangout for aliens) and visit the weird menagerie of the Collector (Benicio Del Toro). They also have to avoid two villains, Ronan (Lee Pace) and Nebula (Karen Gillan), who are in hot pursuit of Quill’s orb, which has the power to destroy the galaxy.
Meanwhile, the New York Toy Fair has offered up an excess of new images from Hollywood biggest science fiction movie properties, such as Transformers: Age of Extinction, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. We’ve seen a lot of Guardians of the Galaxy merchandise and toys, and all of it really makes me wish I was seven years old again. The movie feels like it’s going to be one of the best movies released this summer, so let’s hope the film lives up to the hype.
The new Marvel movie follows Peter Quill, a half-human, half-alien former astronaut who finds himself in the middle of a galaxy-wide manhunt after he steals a mysterious orb, which is believed to be the Mind Gem. In order to escape, he is forced into an uneasy alliance with a group of misfits and outlaws. When he learns of the orb’s true power, he must rally his new team to save the galaxy from a mysterious new threat, the Kree Empire and Ronan the Accuser.
Guardians of the Galaxy stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Lee Pace, Benicio del Toro, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, Michael Rooker, Olivia Lovibond, John C. Reilly, and Glenn Close, and opens in theaters everywhere on August 1.
