Godzilla Demands You Know About This Poster And Viral Site Photos
Of course, it’s basically an advertisement for the social media-friendly “#DemandToKnow” tag, but it’s still a novel and artsy approach in how un-Hollywood it is. I’m almost certain that the font Godzilla is written in on the monster’s back gave some studio exec night sweats for a week. But this is an image that earns its place on a poster. And I’m also wondering if the hashtag business goes towards any predetermined goal, as in “If we get 25,000 retweets, we’ll release another trailer.” Note the way they word the following.
"You're lying, I know what happened here!" #DemandToKnow RT to awaken the truth. #GODZILLA pic.twitter.com/hvfOF9B4xK

Maybe by “awaken the truth,” they just mean a Godzilla alarm clock is coming out. And if you’re already online retweeting things, head over to the MutoResearch site, which has been pretty active in the last few days. Within the file browser menu, you can now see images and documents (as well as listen to audio clips) related to three of the main characters: Elle Brody (Elizabeth Olsen), Ford Brody (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), and Dr. Serizawa (Ken Watanabe). Entries for Joe Brody (Bryan Cranston) and wife Sandra (Juliette Binoche) are still locked at the moment.
Serizawa’s entry contains photos of him and Dr. Wates (Sally Hawkins) and January Research Facility badges for him and someone named “V. Graham.” Plus an audio file and the following heavily-edited report, as written by this Graham person.
I love this kind of conspiratorial teasing. The files for Ford and his wife Elle are kind of similar, with surveillance reports, images, and other personal information. Take a look at some of them below. Why do they have a blurry picture of Ford’s school bus? WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE?!?
Also, why is this picture classified when it looks like a movie still?
And you thought this movie was just going to be about mass destruction and big lizards. Find out what other shadowy and chaotic experiments the Muto teams were up to when Godzilla hits theaters on May 16.
