King Kong (King Kong vs. Godzilla)
While the two titular characters technically spend more time messing with humanity than each other, this 1962 entry into the giant monster genre from the legendary Ishirō Honda is nonetheless a classic, and is the first time audiences got to see both King Kong and Godzilla in full color. Or at least what full color meant 50 years ago. Should Gareth Edwards’ upcoming Godzilla remake prove highly successful, it’s not out of the question that we’ll be seeing these two classic behemoths battling each other again one day. But until then, we’ll just have to settle for this cataclysmic and catastrophic battle.
