Scarlett Johansson Has One More Black Widow Trailer
Check out Scarlett Johansson in the final Black Widow trailer.
“I’ve lived a lot of lives,” says Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow at the beginning of the new Marvel trailer. That seems like the very best way to begin her story. Natalia Alianovna “Natasha” Romanoff, also known as Black Widow, is a character shrouded in mystery in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She hints at more about her life story than she tells us. She references events that she never explains. This makes sense, considering that what we do know about her character is that she seems to have a dodgy past and is an excellent spy. Now, after years of waiting, we’re finally getting a Black Widow solo title that will dive into Natasha’s past. To remind us that they are actually releasing this movie soon, Marvel has given us one more trailer for the upcoming Scarlett Johansson movie. Check it out below.
If this is your first Black Widow trailer, you’re getting a great view at what this movie is going to be about. In Endgame, Tony Stark asked if Natasha had family. In this story, we’re going to see where Scarlett Johansson’s character came from. We’re going to meet her parents, as played by David Harbour (Stranger Things) and Rachel Weisz (The Mummy). Clearly, Natasha Romanoff’s life was never boring. Her family is made of tougher stuff. A lot of her family relationship struggles in this film are going to center around her relationship with her sister, played by Florence Pugh (Midsommar, Little Women).
While Black Widow is diving into her background, we clearly aren’t going back to her childhood, at least not for the bulk of the film. While we aren’t seeing it in the trailer, it may make sense for there to be flashbacks to her younger years at some point in the story. In this movie though, we’re seeing Scarlett Johansson play the character right between the events of Civil War and Infinity War.
This trailer is full of beautiful footage of Budapest. Iconic buildings and bridges from the city can be spotted in the background of different action shots in the trailer, promising a lot of the city in the final film. The city is famously mentioned in an exchange between Hawkeye and Black Widow, where she says “You and I remember Budapest very differently.” It’ll be interesting to see how they use that history and the city itself in the final movie.
Right now, if you perform a Google search for “Black Widow“, one of the most commonly asked questions that comes up is “Is the Black Widow movie still happening?” That is a big hit to Marvel, who of course want audiences to know when their movies are coming out. This film has been talked about for years and years, and then suffered many delays due to the pandemic. Many have wondered if that was a mistake.
The movie is going to be released directly to streaming on Disney+ at the same time it’s released in theaters. Of course, they want the Scarlett Johansson film to do as well as possible at the box office. Strategically, the summer of 2021 will likely see larger numbers of people headed back to the theater. Hopefully, waiting that long will both see people returning to theaters and see them choosing Black Widow over the other delayed movies hitting theaters summer of 2021.
If all remains as planned, Black Widow releases to Disney+ and in theaters on July 9, 2021.
