Scarlett Johansson Sells Us On Jurassic World 4
Scarlett Johansson is officially leading the next movie in the Jurassic World movies, and her statements about the movie so far are reasons for fans to get excited. First, Johansson talked about how big of a fan she is of Jurassic Park, which is always a good sign, but she also said, “the script is so incredible.” The new movie is being penned by David Koepp, who adapted Steven Spielberg’s original Jurassic Park from Michael Crichton’s novel, along with its sequel The Lost World: Jurassic Park.
Separate From The Other Jurassic World Films
Jurassic Park is one of the greatest blockbusters of all time, and it’s safe to say that the franchise has never quite reached those heights again. Scarlett Johansson’s upcoming Jurassic World film is a new story separate from the recent trilogy that was led by Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard.
This is probably the right move, considering the two recent films were the worst-received films in the franchise yet.
Gareth Edwards
Along with Scarlett Johansson and David Koepp, the new Jurassic World film is bringing on Gareth Edwards as director.
Edwards knows a thing or two about making modern blockbusters from beloved franchises after directing 2014’s Godzilla and 2016’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Most recently, Edwards directed the criminally underrated The Creator, which came out last year.
The Cast
Joining Scarlett Johansson in the cast of the new Jurassic World film are Jonathan Bailey, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Mahershala Ali, Rupert Friend, Luna Blaise, and David Iacono.
Steven Spielberg is also executive producing the project through his Amblin Entertainment banner while original Jurassic Park producer Frank Marshall also returns, along with his producing partner Patrick Crowley. The film is set to film in Thailand along with studios in Malta and the UK.
Jurassic World Dominion
With talent like Scarlett Johansson, Koepp, Edwards, and Spielberg all on board, the new Jurassic World film is shaping up to be a promising project. The most recent film was Jurassic World Dominion in 2022, which brought back original Jurassic Park cast members Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum.
While the film brought in over $1 billion at the box office, it was widely panned by critics and audiences alike.
Over $1 billion at the box office, despite bad reviews, shows how badly people want to see more of the Jurassic Park franchise, in whatever way they can get it. It’s nice to see that despite the fact the studio could pump out more low-quality entries to the franchise, that something is changing in response to the reviews.
If Scarlett Johansson is right about the new Jurassic World movie script being incredible, then we could be in for the best dinosaur movie in years.
Jurassic Park Games
In addition to greenlighting a new Scarlett Johansson-led Jurassic World movie, the Jurassic Park franchise continues to expand with a new video game titled Jurassic Park: Survival. While fans have enjoyed the Jurassic Park Evolution park management simulator games, there’s a lot of hype about this upcoming survival horror. It seems like the Jurassic Park franchise is getting turned in the right direction, but we’ll just have to wait until the new movie hits theaters to find out.
