Ever since Hugh Jackman retired his adamantium claws and the film rights to the X-Men reverted back to Marvel, the fan-casting of Daniel Radcliffe as the popular mutant has gained a lot of traction on social media. Now, Sandra Bullock is pushing Marvel to cast him for one basic reason – so people would stop bugging the Harry Potter star about it. And who can blame her? Social media is filled with fan-backed campaigns for Radcliffe to take on the role.
During the press tour for The Lost City, Sandra Bullock and her co-star talked to It’s Gone Viral about Radcliffe’s long-rumored past with the Wolverine role. The English actor said he’s been dealing with it for quite a few years. But no one at Marvel has reached out to him. “Mate, that’s been happening to me semi-annually for the last three years,” he told the interviewer.
That’s when the 57-year-old interjected with her request, “Wolverine people, can you please just f***ing cast him? Just do it! Stop tiptoeing around and having people ask at press junkets. Just cast the man.” As she says this, Radcliffe is seen laughing and begs her to stop. For now, it’s unclear when Wolverine will appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. So it seems likely Radcliffe will have to endure the fan-casting for a while longer.

Although Daniel Radcliffe may be high on the possible-Wolverine list with fans, the actor doesn’t think Marvel would choose him. But he is open to being proven wrong. Speaking to ComicBook.com at the SXSW premiere of The Lost City with Sandra Bullock, Radcliffe said he’s had people congratulate him about landing the Wolverine role all the time. And while he appreciates that fans want a short guy to play the character, he doesn’t see Marvel choosing him after Jackman’s time in the role.
Moreover, Sandra Bullock’s The Lost City co-star previously said he doesn’t think he would play Wolverine despite fans pushing his name for the coveted role. In 2019, he explained that his love for the X-Men movie would actually be a reason for him to turn down the role. “Most of the films that I love I don’t think I would want to see remade,” Radcliffe explained at the time. “And I certainly don’t think that I would want to be in the remakes of them.”
Meanwhile, Daniel Radcliffe can be seen trying to foil Sandra Bullock’s plans in The Lost City. The action-adventure comedy is directed by the Nee brothers, who co-wrote the script with Oren Uziel and Dana Fox, from a story by Seth Gordon. The film was released by Paramount Pictures on March 25th and has grossed over $80 million worldwide to date.
The Lost City follows a successful yet depressed best-selling romance novelist named Loretta Sage / Angela who teams up with her book’s cover model (Sandra Bullock), Alan Caprison (Channing Tatum) to find the lost ancient city depicted in one of her tales. Along the way, the duo has to escape a billionaire (Daniel Radcliffe) who hopes Loretta will lead him to the city’s treasures. Da’Vine Joy Randolph and Brad Pitt also appear in the movie.
