The trailer for Sam Rockwell and Saoirse Ronan’s movie just hit YouTube yesterday and it looks like it’ll be a classic whodunnit. See How They Run will follow Rockwell’s Inspector Stoppard and Saoirse Ronan’s rookie Constable Stalker investigating a murder of a pivotal crew member in a hit play in 1950s London. Check out the trailer for the movie below:

See How They Run comes to us through Searchlight Pictures and is directed by Tom George with a script by Mark Chappell. In addition to Sam Rockwell and Saoirse Ronan, the movie will star Adrien Brody, David Oyelowo, Ruth Wilson, Harris Dickinson, Shirley Henderson, Sian Clifford, Jacob Fortune-Lloyd, Reece Shearsmith, and Charlie Cooper. In the movie, no one can leave the theater until the suspect is found, and the investigators are in danger of becoming victims as well.

It’s been a while since we’ve seen Sam Rockwell on screen, as he’s been sticking to mostly voice roles lately. His last movie was the animated Dreamworks film The Bad Guys where he played Wolf, the leader of a group of criminals trying to become good. The Bad Guys is playing in theaters right now, so it would be easy to head to your local theater if you want to hear Rockwell’s latest performance.

The last time we saw Sam Rockwell in live-action was Richard Jewell and Jojo Rabbit in 2019. Both films got Oscar attention, with Clint Eastwood’s Richard Jewell telling the true story of a security guard who discovered a bomb and saved lives at the 1996 Summer Olympics, eventually becoming a suspect in the eyes of the FBI and the press. Taika Waitit’s Jojo Rabbit told the story of a young boy in the Hilter Youth, whose imaginary friend is Hitler himself, finding out his mother is hiding a Jewish girl in their home.

Fortunately, it seems like Sam Rockwell’s break from live-action movies is over, as the actor has quite a few new projects lined up after See How They Run. We’ll get to see him again in the upcoming Matthew Vaughn spy movie Argylle, which tells the story of the world’s greatest spy. Argylle has quite an impressive cast list, with Henry Cavill, Bryce Dallas Howard, Bryan Cranston, Samuel L. Jackson, John Cena, Catherine O’Hara, Ariana Debose, Rob Delaney, and Dua Lipa all starring. While the release date for Argylle isn’t set in stone, it’s expected to come out this year.

One of Sam Rockwell’s more interesting upcoming projects is a biopic about Merle Haggard. The biopic will be based on the memoir of the country singer Sing Me Back Home and it will be directed by Robin Bissell. Bissell also co-writes the script with Theresa Haggard. There’s not much news about this biopic yet, but it’s in the pre-production stages of development, so we should be getting a better look at it soon enough. Until then, you can watch out for See How They Run, which is coming to theaters sometime in September of this year.
