The New Ryan Reynolds And Will Ferrell Movie Has Received A Release Date
The Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell holiday musical Spirited is releasing on Apple TV+ November 18th.
Apple’s new comedy, Spirited, starring Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell, has a release date. The holiday musical comedy will hit theaters on November 11th and land on Apple TV+ on November 18th. The release is another example of the shortened theatrical window and projects being released quickly on streaming.
The Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell comedy also stars Octavia Spencer, Patrick Page, Sunita Mani, Loren Woods, Joe Tippett, Marlow Barkley, and Jen Tullock. Described as a modern musical rendition of Charles Dickens’s classic story A Christmas Carol, Spirited will feature songs from La La Land’s Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. The film is written and directed by Sean Anders and John Morris. $60 million was reportedly spent on the talent of the project.
The first teaser for the Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell comedy was released via Reynold’s social media on December 25th, 2021. The Deadpool actor also shared real behind-the-scenes photos of the upcoming holiday musical. One of the photos showed Ferrell sending Reynolds a Venmo payment request for coffee and TikTok appearances.
Photos of the film were later released online by AppleTV+. In the pictures, it appears Ryan Reynolds is scaring the heck out of Will Ferrell. The images also suggest that Reynolds plays the iconic Charles Dickens character Ebenezer Scrooge.
Fans got a glimpse of what Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell were working on together in a viral TikTok video posted last September. The footage began with Reynolds signing part of Mika’s 2007 song “Grace Kelly” before Ferrell wanders into the frame and begins to sing in an exaggerated high-pitched voice. Reynolds then announced the following month that he had wrapped production on Spirited.
A series of new posters for the upcoming musical drama was recently released online. The set of black-and-white posters reveals Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell in costume, along with actress Octavia Spencer. The photos show that the film is going for a modern take on the classic holiday story.
While it looked like Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell certainly had a great time making the film, Reynolds mentioned that the experience was actually quite challenging. When announcing the end of production on social media, Reynolds wrote that he wasn’t sure he’d “have been ready to say yes to a film this challenging even three years ago.” There certainly appears to be a lot of singing and dancing in the film, and perhaps the comedic actor was taken aback by all of it.
Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell have a close friendship. Last year, the two actors filled in for one another on two late-night talk shows. Ferrell also went down to Wales to watch Reynold’s Wrexham football game in February.
Hopefully, Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell’s close friendship can shine through when the two are onscreen together in Spirited. Both actors have gained many fans for their work over the years. The film undoubtedly will be something audiences will check out during the holiday season. And who knows, we may even get their supposed Anchorman musical after this.
