Ryan Reynolds Leaks Deadpool 3 Images And We’re Suspicious
Ryan Reynolds recently took to social media to “leak” a series of images from the highly anticipated Marvel Cinematic Universe movie Deadpool 3. However, as fans quickly realized, these leaked images are more of a playful jab at the recent surge of actual set photo leaks than a genuine sneak peek into the upcoming film.
Ryan Reynolds Deadpool 3 Leak?
“Deadpool began with a leak. So I’m joining in,” Ryan Reynolds wrote on X. “But please don’t overuse the phrase, ‘Deadpool Leaks’ because it might screw up search results if anyone is looking for Deadpool leaks or Deadpool spoilers or perhaps, Deadpool scoops.” The actor then shared five “real” images from the Deadpool 3 set.
However, it becomes evident rather quickly that Ryan Reynolds’ set photos are anything but authentic. Wolverine and Deadpool are seen chatting to sci-fi villain Predator.
Mickey Mouse And Urkel?
Mickey Mouse makes a cameo, clapping as Deadpool walks away with a bag full of money, much to Wolverine’s dismay. Quibi and Steve Urkel also appear unexpectedly in the edited Deadpool 3 set photos.
Unlike many Marvel Studios productions that rely heavily on green screens and indoor sets, Deadpool 3 is shot outdoors and in practical locations.
Unfortunately, that has made it easier for scoopers and photographers to capture unauthorized glimpses of the set, spoiling a few surprise cameos ahead of the film’s release.
Real Environments For Deadpool 3
Ryan Reynolds responded to the surge of Deadpool 3 leaks on December 6 in a post on Instagram, writing that the decision to shoot in real, natural environments with practical effects is aimed at preserving the joy for the audience and maintaining the magic for the big screen.
“Our highest hope is to preserve as much of that magic as possible for the finished film and the big screen,” ,” he said via Gizmodo.
Excited For Spoilers
Despite the frustration that may come with leaked set photos, Ryan Reynolds took it in stride, adding, “Part of the reason people post spoilers is because they’re excited. I realize these aren’t real-world issues, and it’s firmly in the ‘good problems’ bucket.”
Although Reynolds is undoubtedly unhappy about the Deadpool 3 leaks, he isn’t allowing it to bother him too much.
As the actor highlighted, the initial approval for the first Deadpool movie from 20th Century Fox came after someone leaked the test footage for the project online.
Despite the test footage being created in 2011, its unauthorized release in 2014 received an overwhelmingly positive response, which prompted the studio to set it in motion for production swiftly.
Deadpool 3 Is MCU Debut
Deadpool 3 will see Ryan Reynolds, his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as Wade Wilson.
Directed by Shawn Levy, the film is helmed from a script he co-wrote with Levy, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, Zeb Wells, and Reynolds. Hugh Jackman, who seemingly bid farewell to the role of Wolverine in 2019’s Logan, will reprise his iconic mutant character.
However, Ryan Reynolds has hinted that the Deadpool 3 creative team presented Jackman with a character vastly different from the one he portrayed before, offering him a fresh and unexplored take on the mutant.
Morena Baccarin, Brianna Hildebrand, Leslie Uggams, and Karan Soni are joining the cast.
Other Marvel Returns?
There have also been rumors about the potential return of iconic figures from the classic X-Men movies.
Halle Berry, known for her portrayal of Storm, was seen sporting a hairstyle reminiscent of her Marvel and 20th Century Fox appearances, suggesting the possibility of her reprising the role of the weather-controlling mutant. Jennifer Garner is also expected to appear as Elektra.
Following their roles in Loki, the speculation about Owen Wilson and Tara Strong joining the cast as Mobius and Miss Minutes has also been rife. With an eclectic mix of actors alongside Ryan Reynolds, Deadpool 3 will likely be a promising MCU entry. The film hits theaters on July 26, 2024.
