Ryan Reynolds Is Another Superstar’s Favorite Actor?

It makes sense that Hollywood superstars and A-listers would want to work with other Hollywood superstars and A-listers. That seems like the natural order of things these days so it makes sense that this group would be extremely complimentary of each other. Having stars hitch their proverbial wagons to other stars is a way to stay at the top. Dwayne Johnson is a good example of this and it’s not all that surprising that he would single out other superstars to compliment when possible. According to insider Daniel Richtman, he’s done just that, saying that Ryan Reynolds is the best actor The Rock ever worked with.
If Dwayne Johnson actually said this, and there’s no reason to believe he didn’t, he’s likely referring to the work he and Ryan Reynolds did on the set of Red Notice together. The film stars these two plus Gal Gadot and is setting up to be an action-comedy heist film. Johnson plays an FBI agent tasked with tracking down Reynolds and Gadot who are a con artist and thief respectively. Because this is Hollywood, the three end up on the same side and have to navigate a new set of threats around them. Considering the talent in this flick, it should almost definitely be entertaining.
And it’s not a surprise to hear that Ryan Reynolds is one of the most talented actors Dwayne Johnson has ever worked with. The former is among the busiest guys around and that kind of thing doesn’t just happen to anyone. In addition to Red Notice coming out this year, he also has Free Guy hitting screens this summer. That’s set for an August 13th release and will feature Reynolds as a video game NPC who ultimately comes online to understand the fabricated world around him. It looks like a funnier version of The Matrix with the unassuming Reynolds slowly learning that he can control the game.
Plus, he’s got The Adam Project coming down the pike as well. Ryan Reynolds will star in the Shawn Levy-directed film about a man who must time travel to save a younger version of himself. Zoe Saldana, Mark Ruffalo, Catherine Keener, and Jennifer Garner are also involved. In this way, it’s easy to see how Reynolds has cultivated a career that has other huge talents wanting to work with him.
These comments by Dwayne Johnson regarding Ryan Reynolds and his immense talent stand in stark contrast to the feud the latter and Vin Diesel have had publicly over the years. For Johnson, the comments about Diesel were nearly the polar opposite. After feuding for years on the sets of the Fast & Furious franchise, Diesel took credit for getting Johnson to act better. Johnson apparently fired back that he suggested Diesel take acting lessons. Somewhat of a different set of messaging there.
Both Ryan Reynolds and Dwayne Johnson are set for superhero turns in the near future. Reynolds will be reprising his role of Deadpool, this time finally coming over to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And Dwayne Johnson will be taking up the character of Black Adam for the first time in the DC Extended Universe sometime next summer.
