After making over $1.5 billion with his two Fox-produced films, it only seems like a matter of time before Disney brings Deadpool into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool looks to be one of the only characters Disney plans on bringing over from the Fox acquisition pretty much as-is, albeit possibly with a more PG-13 tone. While many fans are anxiously waiting for the announcement of a Deadpool 3, it seems as though Deadpool is going to make his first appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe before he gets his own film.

Small Screen is reporting they’ve heard from multiple sources that Ryan Reynolds will appear as Deadpool in the upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The site’s source says that Deadpool’s appearance will be little more than a cameo, one that will poke fun at the Fox and Disney merger. Yet still, Deadpool’s involvement will at least show that Disney still has the character in mind for the larger world, and would possibly be the first Marvel character from the Fox purchase that made an appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

With Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe looking to play with multiverses quite heavily, there have been plenty of rumors beyond Ryan Reynolds returning as Deadpool. Rumor is that the upcoming WandaVision will open up the multiverse possibilities, while the upcoming Spider-Man 3 will feature Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange, and at least one character from The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Yet it seems as though Phase Four will reach new levels of insanity when it comes to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The news of Electro appearing in Spider-Man 3, and rumors like Ryan Reynolds appearing as Deadpool have led all sorts of speculation as to what craziness Sam Raimi’s return to the superhero world could behold. But one of the major rumors has been that by opening the multiverse up, we could finally see our first look at the X-Men or Fantastic Four characters. If Deadpool is part of this film, it seems like that rumor could be close to becoming a reality.

Ryan Reynolds Deadpool

Ryan Reynolds has stated in the past that he’s working with Disney, trying to find a good way to bring Deadpool into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While it doesn’t seem like Deadpool 3 is on the docket any time soon, one of the biggest questions about his inclusion into the Marvel world is if his sense of humor would remain intact. Some rumors have said his solo films would allow Deadpool to remain R-rated, while any involvement with the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe would likely be toned down.

But to get audiences prepared for characters like X-Men and Fantastic Four joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, bringing Ryan Reynolds in for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness – even for a cameo – would be a fun way to merge these worlds. Yet with all the wild rumors that are flying around Doctor Strange’s latest film, Deadpool’s inclusion might not even be one of the biggest surprises. We will find out what Deadpool’s involvement is when Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness releases on March 25, 2022.
