Ryan Reynolds Was A Bully On The Set Of Deadpool?
TJ Miller, who played Weasel in Deadpool, felt like Ryan Reynolds bullied him on set.
Ryan Reynolds may seem like the kind of guy that would help an old lady cross the street, but he was apparently a bully while on the set of Deadpool. Comedian T.J. Miller, who played Weasel in the first movie, let it be known that he was “belittled” on the set of the first movie. During an interview on The Adam Carolla Show back in October 2022, Miller stated that he would never wish to work with Reynolds again, based on the treatment that he received.
Apparently, while the pair had been filming the first Deadpool movie, Ryan Reynolds was a bit too much into his character. Granted, Wade Wilson belittles everyone he meets, so it could have been that Reynolds was going a bit too “method” in his approach when he was working with Miller. However, that was enough for Miller to not want to work with Reynolds again.
T.J. Miller had been asked if he was going to be reprising his role as Weasel for the third movie, which he stated he had no interest in doing so, simply because of the treatment he received from Ryan Reynolds. According to Miller, “As the character, he was, like, horrifically mean to me….but to me…as if I’m Weasel.” Going back to our previous point, it sounds as if Reynolds was too far gone into playing his character that he came out sounding like he was attacking Miller for no reason.
Thankfully, things did turn around for Ryan Reynolds and T.J. Miller, as Reynolds reached out to the comedian after hearing about his horror story while on the set of Deadpool. Miller stated that Reynolds emailed him and spoke about how that was a big “misunderstanding” and that he was not attempting to belittle him at all. Miller spoke about how they quickly hashed things out, which you can see in the video below:
It turns out, Ryan Reynolds is the good guy that everyone thinks that he is. He may have been too much into his character on the set of Deadpool, but he was not trying to make Miller feel bad at all. Does this mean that Miller will be returning in Deadpool 3?
We would imagine that Ryan Reynolds is attempting to get the entire band back together for the anticipated third movie, but that does not mean that includes Miller’s Weasel or even Morena Baccarin’s Vanessa. We do know that Leslie Uggams is coming back as Blind Al, though no other returning characters have been announced. Reynolds is trying to bring back many of the original Marvel actors, presumably so they can be made fun of, so we would imagine that the cast is already going to be too stacked.
For now, we are all going to have to wait while more casting announcements come rolling out in the coming weeks and months. Deadpool 3 has a scheduled release date of November 8, 2023, and there are many characters like Tom Hiddleston and Jonathan Majors rumored to be joining the movie. Whatever happens, we are more than happy to see Ryan Reynolds return to his best character.
