See The Hilarious Short Film Ryan Gosling Just Shot For A Major Watch Company
Ryan Gosling partnered with Tag Heuer for a short film.
The Carrera is a line of high-end watches made by Swiss watchmaker Tag Heuer. According to The Hollywood Reporter, an event commemorating the 60th birthday of the Carrera model took place in central London on Thursday, and several A-List actors were in attendance, including Barbie star Ryan Gosling, Grey’s Anatomy alum Patrick Dempsey, and The White Lotus’ Alexandra Daddario. At one point during the celebratory event, Gosling took the stage to unveil his latest project: the short action-comedy film The Case for Carrera.
The feature stars Ryan Gosling and Saturday Night Live regular Vanessa Bayer. Directed by Nash Edgerton, The Case for Carrera was shot in Australia while Gosling was filming the action flick The Fall Guy for Universal. David Leitch, director of Deadpool 2 and Bullet Train, produced the feature under his 87 North company.
The short film, with a runtime of slightly over five minutes, features Ryan Gosling as himself. He tries to steal the new Tag Heuer Carrera Glassbox from a film set, with prop master Vanessa Bayer in pursuit as he makes his escape in a Porsche. The short movie features a mix of action, comedy, and of course, close-ups of the dazzling Carrera watch.
Before The Chase for Carrera, Ryan Gosling had already acted in a movie featuring a Tag Heuer Carrera. In the Netflix spy thriller The Grey Man, where he co-starred with Chris Evans, he wore a Tag Heuer Carrera Three Hands watch as part of his partnership with the brand. Furthermore, he will sport the new Tag Heuer Carrera Chronograph in the upcoming film The Fall Guy.
While plot details for The Fall Guy are being kept under wraps, we do know that the film will have a talented and well-known cast. In addition to Ryan Gosling, the cast includes Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emily Blunt, Winston Duke, Hannah Waddingham, Teresa Palmer, Adam Dunn, and Beth Champion. Directed by David Leitch, the action drama is slated to arrive in theaters on March 1, 2024.
Before that, Ryan Gosling is set to portray Ken in the upcoming film Barbie, which is based on the popular toy line of the same name and scheduled for release in July. Margot Robbie will play the titular character, who is banished from her hometown of Barbie Land for being different. This leads her to embark on an adventure in the real world.
In addition to Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie, Barbie boasts a star-studded cast that includes Helen Mirren, Will Ferrell, Michael Cera, John Cena, Kate McKinnon, Alexandra Shipp, and America Ferrera. The film is being directed by Greta Gerwig, who previously helmed the Oscar-nominated drama Little Women. Gerwig also co-wrote the script for Barbie with Noah Baumbach.
It should go without saying that Ryan Gosling remains one of the busiest actors in Hollywood. Whether it’s collaborating with brands like Tag Heuer or working on high-profile films with A-List actors such as Chris Evans and Margot Robbie, the 42-year-old star always seems to be involved in multiple projects at a time. His talent and dedication have certainly solidified his position as a prominent figure in the industry.
