Ryan Gosling Finally Joining Marvel?
Ryan Gosling may soon be turning in the key for his Mojo Dojo Casa House and leaving Barbieland to take on a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Through his Patreon channel, industry insider Daniel Richtman revealed that the actor recently met with the studio’s head, Kevin Feige, and is in talks to play a character in an upcoming film. Although it’s just a rumor for now, it is promising to know that, at the very least, Gosling and Feige have sat across from one another and talked about something business-related.
Unfortunately, for those of us who were hoping for a hotter cup of tea, Richtman’s knowledge on the subject doesn’t get too detailed. According to Richtman, the character or villain reveal is a far way off from happening as Ryan Gosling may be in talks to play more than one Marvel character. Whether he was to join the team of good or evil, Gosling would undoubtedly make a perfect addition to the ever-growing star-studded franchise.
Ryan Gosling also has a foot up on the rest of the competition should he truly be going out for a Marvel role as the actor appeared last year in The Gray Man, a film by brotherly directing duo Anthony and Joe Russo. As high-octane as they come, the movie threw Gosling into an action-packed spy thriller alongside Marvel alum Chris Evans. As the Russo brothers have previously directed MCU films including Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame, they’d surely put in a good word for Gosling should he need one.
Although to be fair, the MCU would be incredibly lucky to add Ryan Gosling to the call sheet for their next project. The studio is rumored to be unleashing an unbelievable line-up of stars led by Pedro Pascal for its upcoming Fantastic Four reboot and adding Ryan Gosling to that or another title to come from Phase 6 or beyond would only further ignite the excitement surrounding Marvel’s secretive slate.
And then there’s the recent loss of the MCU’s newest big bad, Jonathan Majors’s Kang the Conqueror. After being found guilty following a trial surrounding domestic abuse allegations, Majors was dropped from the studio which is now scrambling to pivot the direction it has been marching toward since introducing the character in Season 1 of Loki. With Majors and (presumably) Kang out, there’s plenty of space for a fresh actor like Ryan Gosling to step in and take over the role of Marvel’s next top villain.
Beyond the rumors that put him as the MCU’s next big get, Ryan Gosling’s docket is looking a little empty these days as the actor recently stepped back from his previously confirmed role in Universal and Blumhouse’s Wolf Man. With his next project, David Leitch’s The Fall Guy, set to arrive in theaters this coming spring, there’s a big blank space where Ryan Gosling’s next job should be – so why couldn’t it be with Marvel? As always, we’ll be here to keep you updated should anything more official be revealed.
