Ryan Gosling marvel

While nothing has been set in stone, the image of Ryan Gosling as Marvel’s Ghost Rider has now officially burned itself into our minds and we never want it to leave. In an Instagram post made by @Clements.Ink, the artist crafted his own version of what he thinks Gosling’s version of the MCU antihero would look like. The image reveals Gosling in two parts, half as the hero’s everyday look of Johnny Blaze and the other half as the vengeful Ghost Rider. With flames darting up one side of his face, Gosling stares into the distance while rocking a leather jacket perfect for the motorcycle riding Marvel character.

If he were to do it, Ryan Gosling would be transforming into a complicated member of the Marvel universe. As Ghost Rider’s origin story goes, regular guy Johnny Blaze cuts a deal with the devil to save the life of his mentor. But, things with the devil often shake out a little complicated and Blaze soon finds himself possessed by a vengeful spirit known as Zarathos. Now, Johnny will spend the rest of his days walking the Earth as a normal dude except when the blood of an innocent is spilled in which case he transforms into the demonic entity to exact revenge.

Rumors around a new Ghost Rider film have been swirling more and more in recent years with all the buzz surrounding the upcoming new phases of the MCU. Along with Ryan Gosling’s name, a lot of others have been tossed into the ring as possibilities for playing the antihero. Fans of Nicolas Cage will remember his turn taking up the mantle as the titular character in 2007’s Ghost Rider, and have been hoping that the actor would be given another shot at playing the demonic super hero. Also mentioned have been the likes of Keanu Reeves and Game of Thrones star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. Really anyone who can nail a brooding look is in the running.

As for Ryan Gosling, he’s been keeping himself incredibly busy as of late. Already out in theaters, Gosling and the rest of the team behind the Russo Brothers helmed thriller, The Gray Man, are gearing up for its Netflix release Friday, July 22. In it, Gosling plays an ex-CIA operative named Court Gentry who has discovered some disturbing truths about the agency that threatens to bring them to their knees. This new found knowledge makes him a man on the run with Chris Evans’ psychotic Lloyd Hansen, Gentry’s ex-colleague, now launching a global manhunt to track the defector down. Along with Gosling and Evans, the film also stars Regé Jean-Page, Ana de Armas, Jessica Henwick, and Dhanush.

On the lighter (and we don’t just mean his hair) side of things, Ryan Gosling has just wrapped filming on the live-action and incredibly neon telling of Barbie. Not a lot is known about the feature at this time, other than it’s aiming to be a romantic comedy centered around the all-American couple, Ken (Gosling) and Barbie (Margot Robbie). Greta Gerwig both directed as well as co-wrote the screenplay with Noah Baumbach. The film has a slew of big name talent, featuring the likes of America Ferrera, Simu Liu, Kate McKinnon, Issa Rae, Michael Cera, Will Ferrell, and others. That film is slated for a release in 2023.
