Rose Byrne’s Apple TV+ series is getting the go-ahead for another season. This will be the third season of Byrne’s series Physical which follows a woman named Sheila Rubin making her way in the 1980s aerobics industry. The show’s second season finale just aired on August 5, so it looks like Apple is definitely happy with the show’s reception so far. Annie Weisman is the creator and showrunner of the series.

Alongside Rose Byrne, Physical also stars Rory Scovel, Dierdre Friel, Paul Sparks, Della Saba and Lou Taylor Pucci, and Murray Bartlett. The series is produced by Tomorrow Studios with Byrne, Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements, Stephanie Laing, and Craig Gillespie serving as executive producers.

Apple is also betting on Byrne later this year with an upcoming comedy series she has with Neighbors co-star Seth Rogen. The series, titled Platonic, will follow two former childhood best friends who meet again in their adult lives and attempt to mend their friendship. Byrne and Rogen will co-star. The cast will be rounded out by Alisha Wainwright, Guy Branum, Janet Varney, Emily Kimball, Vinny Thomas, Luke Macfarlane, Tre Hale, Carla Gallo, and Andrew Lopez. The series is created, written, and directed by Francesca Delbanco and Nick Stoller. Platonic is expected to premiere sometime before 2022 is over.

While Rose Byrne will undoubtedly be busy with the third season of Physical and with her newest Apple TV series Platonic, she’ll also be returning to one of her breakout roles with the Insidious franchise. Insidious 5 is currently filming and shooting for a July 7, 2023 release date. Insidious 5 will be returning to the story of the Lambert family, who were the focus of the first and second movies of the franchise. Patrick Wilson, who played Josh Lambert in the first two movies, will be making his directorial debut for this entry. Byrne is reprising her role as Renai Lambert and Ty Simpkins returns as Dalton. Sinclair Daniel, Peter Dager, and Hiam Abbass have also been added to the cast. Scott Teems writes the screenplay based on a story by franchise co-creator Leigh Whannell. Wilson will be taking the directorial reins from James Wan, who directed the Lambert family’s story in the first two films. Insidious 5 will pick up ten years after the second film as Josh Lambert heads east to drop Dalton off at college. The last entry to the franchise was Insidious: The Last Key in 2018. The third and fourth movies centered more on the psychic Elise Rainer, so the fifth movie seems like it will be more of a return to form for the franchise.

Of course, Physical is quite a different role for Rose Byrne than her role in the Insidious franchise. The sun-drenched world of Physical is a little more enjoyable to return to than the horror of The Further dimension in Insidious. But, whether you prefer hell dimensions or 1980s aerobics, Rose Byrne has you covered. Make sure to check out the latest season of Physical on Apple TV+ and keep an eye out for the release date of the third season.
