Rosario Dawson has become quite busy in recent years with her ever-growing resume of comic and pop culture-related projects. The actress is set to reprise her role as Ashoka Tano — one of the most popular characters in the Star Wars universe — which she first played in season 2 of Disney+’s The Mandalorian. Ahsoka is currently in pre-production and is likely to air sometime in late 2022. Now Dawson is set to star in DMZ, a limited series on HBO Max that is based on the comic of the same name. The show follows the post-apocalyptic Manhattan area that has now been turned into a demilitarized zone.

Fans wondering when they would get to see updated on DMZ were treated to a quick few images on HBO Max‘s YouTube page which showcased all of the series and films that are set to premiere on the apps 2022 lineup. The quick shots of Rosario Dawson in the show start at around the 1:02 mark of the video. Dawson plays the lead role of Alma Ortega, a fierce and fearless medic who has been separated from her son when the evacuations of New York happened.

DMZ follows Alma Ortega as she battles Delgado, a man trying to conquer this new world. He will stop at nothing to make sure he is the exalted ruler of this new Manhattan. There are also gangs, warlords, militias, and demagogues, that Ortega must deal with in bringing what the new world has lost, hope. DMZ sounds to be just as exciting as the comic series was. You can see some images from the preview below, including Dawson as Alma Ortega.

Opposite Rosario Dawson, the main villain role of Parco Delgado will be played by Benjamin Bratt. Bratt is mostly known for Law & Order and Traffic. Joining them are Hoon Lee, Freddy Miyares, Jordan Preston Carter, Rutina Wesley, Mamie Gummer, Nora Dunn, Henry G. Sanders, Venus Ariel, Jade Wu, Rey Gallegos, Agam Darshi, and Juani Feliz.

When They See Us creator Ava DuVernay and Robert Patino of Westworld fame are both helming this new limited series. With such strong creators backing this show, it is likely to be a smash hit for Rosario Dawson and everyone else concerned. This will be the second of two post-apocalyptic shows to watch out for on HBO, as the live-action version of The Last of Us is also set to drop soon. There is no telling where Rosario Dawson will go from here, but her career is only getting better with the many roles she has been garnering the past few years. Hopefully, she can find herself in a deeper role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe next. Rosario Dawson concerning herself with roles of significance in the nerd world bodes well for her career, as fans continually want her to be in more comic-related projects. She was fantastic as the Night Nurse aka Claire Temple in Daredevil and the rest of the Marvel series that includes Daredevil, Iron Fist, Luke Cage, and The Defenders.
