Romantic Comedy Anime Partners With Under Armour Shoes
In Japan, where anime is a major part of the culture, it’s not surprising to find collaborations between certain series and major companies. Food, clothes, toys, and more often collaborate with anime series either by using them to promote a product or by making products specifically tailored to the fans. Kimi ni Todoke and Under Armour’s collaboration falls into the first category, using original visuals and ones from the manga to highlight specific shoes made by Under Armour.
Kimi ni Todoke is set in Hokkaido and focuses on a 15-year-old high-school freshman named Sawako Kuronuma.
Kimi ni Todoke has partnered with Under Armour via ABC Mart to promote two of the brand’s most popular shoes. To promote the shoes, new art and some art from the original manga are blended together for a video. Specifically, the UA Charged Surge 4 and the UA HOVR Turbulence 2 RS have been highlighted in the video.
The collaboration is titled, “You gave me the courage to take a step forward” and is part of Under Armour’s 45th anniversary event. The shoes only come in black or blue, but they are a fun way to subtly celebrate your favorite anime, Kimi ni Todoke. They’re not terribly expensive either, costing between $54 and $84, depending on which pair you buy.
