See Robert Pattinson Replace Charlie Cox As Daredevil
Robert Pattinson is both Matt Murdock and Daredevil in this fan art.
Right now, Robert Pattinson is busy working on the sequel to Matt Reeves’ The Batman and Charlie Cox is working hard on bringing Daredevil back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But what if these two did a Freaky Friday and it was the brooding Pattinson who starred in the upcoming Disney+ show Daredevil: Born Again? Instagram user Bobby_Art decided to show us his rendition of Pattinson as Daredevil, and while the idea sounded crazy to us at first, we must admit that it looks pretty damn cool.
Like Batman and other popular heroes such as Superman, Daredevil must balance life as a superhero with his civilian life, protecting his secret identity to keep those he loves from getting hurt. Accordingly, the artist gave us two versions of Robbert Pattinson as Daredevil, one in the costume and one out of the costume. And while the rendering of Daredevil’s old suit looks good (we can all agree that the Daredevil: Born Again costume looks pretty bad, right?), we were particularly drawn to the rendition of Pattinson as Matt Murdock, attorney at law.
Robert Pattinson obviously has the jawline of a superhero already, which is one of the reasons he was cast to play Batman in the first place. But that jawline looks almost as impressive in this rendition of Pattinson as Murdock, helping to draw our attention to something resembling a petulant pout. Beyond the facial details, though, we were struck by some of the other similarities between Pattinson as Matt Murdock and Pattinson as Bruce Wayne.
For example, Murdock is known for wearing nice suits (although he doesn’t have the same tailoring challenges that fellow lawyer She-Hulk does), and we see Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne wear a suit very much like he has in this drawing when attending a funeral in The Batman. We also see his Bruce Wayne wearing sunglasses during the day to emphasize what a nocturnal creature he has become, and this underscores the fact that Pattinson would look right at home walking around with sunglasses on in Daredevil: Born Again.
Interestingly, even though the artist lovingly drew Robert Pattinson as Daredevil, he was quick to point out that he loves Charlie Cox, who will always be his favorite Matt Murdock. However, possibly inspired by the recent Marvel Cinematic Universe focus on variants and alternate realities, he speculated that Pattinson could have made a good Daredevil in Andrew Garfield’s Amazing Spider-Man universe. While Spider-Man: No Way Home gave us a welcome glimpse into the life of Garfield’s Spider-Man, it’s admittedly quite fun to think about the other heroes and villains he might have met up with (including Daredevil) if those movies had been more of a success.
If you’d like to see more of Robert Pattinson outside of this awesome fan art, it looks like he has some interesting projects coming up. In addition to the next Batman movie, the actor is working on Average Height, Average Build, a film that also stars Robert Downey Jr., and Mickey 17, a film that also stars Mark Ruffalo. So while Pattinson may never appear in the MCU in any real way, all you’ll have to do is head to the theater to see him sharing the big screen with both Iron Man and the Hulk.
