Rick Moranis Assault Case Solved, Attacker Captured
Rick Moranis was brutally attacked, but his assailant was arrested.

Rick Moranis was viciously attacked by an unknown assailant on the streets of New York. Thankfully, the actor was doing okay shortly after the assault, but the culprit was still at large. Now, it seems that the New York Police Department has a suspect in custody.
The attack on Rick Moranis took place on October 1 and was captured on video in the tweet below. Thanks to a New York Police Department Transit officer, the suspect was apprehended and brought in for charges. From what we can tell, the suspect has been correctly identified as the person that attacked the 67-year-old actor.
Although Rick Moranis was seriously injured from the attack, it seems like he has made a full recovery and was able to assist the police in identifying his attacker. Although he has been out of the acting spotlight for many years, Moranis will be headed back to the big screen in a new sequel to the classic family comedy, Honey, I Shrunk the Kids. Exactly when that production starts filming is unclear, but at least we know that the injuries Moranis sustained from this attack won’t prevent him from making his return to film acting.
Rick Moranis decided to take an indefinite hiatus from acting in the mid-to-late ’90s after the death of his wife. Moranis had two young daughters and found that raising them while being a movie star was just not feasible. In an interview with USA Today, the actor admits that going away from show business made him realize how little he missed being a screen actor. This led to him mostly swearing off any starring film roles, with the exception of a few voice acting gigs.
But when it was announced that Rick Moranis would be making his big-screen return in this new Hony, I Shrunk the Kids sequel, fans were overjoyed. There have been plenty of heartfelt and even humorous feelings regarding the absence of Moranis in major motion pictures. The news that we could expect to see Moranis back in a Disney tentpole event film ignited a spark of nostalgia in many fans’ hearts.
Then, this awful attack on Rick Moranis occurred. For someone who had remained out of the public’s eye for so long, it was devastating to see him return because of such a horrific event. If something even more serious had happened to the beloved actor, it would have been the kind of devastating news that we just can’t take much more of in 2020.
Thankfully, Rick Moranis is doing alright according to current reports. And now, his assailant looks to be in the hands of the New York Police Department. This is one of the few times where it looks like things are going to work out okay. We are very happy to learn that Mr. Moranis is healthy and that the perpetrator of this attack is in police custody. We need all the wins we can get this year, so we are counting this one as a win.
