Rick And Morty Season 7 Is Coming Soon
Rick and Morty will return to Adult Swim on October 15 for season 7. The news (on Twitter) comes after the network dropped series co-creator Justin Roiland due to domestic abuse allegations. At the time, the network said the titular roles would be recast. But as the SAG-AFTRA strike continues, a successor for the roles of Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith has yet to be revealed.
According to an official press release, Rick and Morty season 7 will debut in over 134 countries in 38 languages. New episodes will be available from digital stores the day after they are broadcast on Adult Swim in the United States. New episodes will also be available to stream in 2024, meaning fans who catch them on Adult Swim will have don’t wait a few months before tuning in.
Rick and Morty season seven will further delve into a story that was first introduced in season three. After being held prisoner by the Galactic Federation, Rick chose to share a false story about how he invented the portal gun to escape to a different universe. This tale was a cover-up for the truth – his wife and a younger version of his daughter Beth were killed by the original Rick or Rick Prime.

In season five, Rick confessed to Morty that his previous narrative was actually the real story, and his desire for revenge against Rick Prime has haunted him for a long time. The initial preview for Rick and Morty season seven strongly reinforces his determination to confront and defeat Rick Prime, ultimately aiming to find inner peace.
After Roiland’s departure, co-creator Dan Harmon will remain at the helm of the Rick and Morty series, overseeing its production as they work to fulfill the 70-episode commitment made to Adult Swim, starting with season seven. In 2020, Roiland faced charges including one felony count of domestic battery with corporal injury and another felony count of false imprisonment through violence.
Although allegations of predatory behavior surfaced on social media, no criminal charges were pressed in connection to these claims. However, when the domestic violence accusations gained significant media attention in January 2023, Adult Swim decided to discontinue their professional relationship with Roiland. He has also been removed from Hulu projects Solar Opposites and Koala Man.
Rick and Morty premiered on Adult Swim, the late-night programming block of Cartoon Network and the home of season seven, on December 2, 2013.
