Rick And Morty Creator’s Horrific Behavior Revealed, It’s Been Happening For Years
Rick and Morty creator, Justin Roiland, has been engaged in wild and inappropriate behavior for years.
The world was a bit shocked at the revelation that Justin Roiland had been fired from his involvement with Rick and Morty, Koala Man, Squanch Games, and Polar Opposites. Well, now The Hollywood Reporter has detailed more about Roiland’s behavior, which has been going on for a lot longer. According to one instance, he messaged a girl who had been underage at the time, with a message that read, “You should just run away from home and go into sex slavery YOU F****** STUPID F***** B**** (!!!) (Jk).”
Rick and Morty’s Justin Roiland has had harassment claims well documented for years, and though many had been stunned by his recent criminal charges, the details about harassment by Roiland have been well known. Apparently, Roiland has not had a presence when it came to the creating aspect of many of the shows he worked on. In fact, many choosing to stay anonymous, have revealed they hadn’t seen Roiland in years.
One of the last times they saw Justin Roiland was during Season 3 of the series, where he allegedly paraded a porn star through the writer’s room, bragged about threesomes, and generally made everyone very uncomfortable. Cartoon Network conducted an investigation into his behavior in 2020, though they declined to comment on if he suffered any kind of reprimand. Roiland had been accused of sexual harassment during this time, with the accusations being levied by the first female workers that Rick and Morty hired.
Most of these anonymous creators also stated that when they had randomly seen Rick and Morty creator Justin Roiland, their engagements were not pleasant at all. It was also revealed that Roiland and co-creator Dan Harmon have not been on speaking terms for many years. Also, many staffers working on Polar Opposites and Koala Man had not even met Roiland, though he is an executive producer on both shows.
Dan Harmon did state that the early years of Rick and Morty were great, and he purposely brought in Justin Roiland because his attitude matched the chaos of what the series was about. However, that attitude had soured into harassment and many unsavory qualities that are now being revealed to the world. Reports stated that Roiland had begun to pull away from writers and creators as early as Season 2 of the hit cartoon.
Though the first few years of pitching and working on the first season of Rick and Morty had been great, Justin Roiland became so disinterested in the writers, he would purposely sit far away from them during meetings. Though it could have been part of his need to create chaos for the characters he portrayed, he was stated to have to use binoculars to read the whiteboard when the writing process was happening. Things began to dissolve much faster after that, and Roiland’s attitude toward the show and the creation process was nonexistent.
Things on Rick and Morty had become so bad, a mediator had to be brought in to try and repair the relationship between Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland back in 2018. However, it became too late, and now these new details have painted a broader picture of how it was so easy to see Roiland let go from all his creations. We are not sure what is going to happen in the future, but Roiland is likely not to be involved with anything for many years to come.
