The Nature Boy Returns In The Ric Flair Documentary First Look
Peacock reveals the incredible first trailer for the upcoming Ric Flair biography.
Peacock has released the first trailer for its biographical documentary Woooooo! Becoming Ric Flair. The professional wrestler, also known as The Nature Boy, is considered the most outstanding wrestler of all time, and his life in and out of the ring will be examined in the new film. Movieweb reports that it will be available for streaming on December 26.
Ric Flair was born Richard Fliehr in 1949, and the movie documents his transformation into his stage persona. It features commentary from many other professional wrestlers, sports figures, and celebrities. Some of the stars included are Hulk Hogan, Charlotte Flair, Mike Tyson, Stephen A. Smith, and Post Malone.
The storied career of Ric Flair began in 1972. It was his involvement with Jim Crockett Promotions from 1974 to 1991 that would provide his foundation in entertainment history, as this was the precursor to the World Championship Wrestling circuit. He would work with WCW again from 1993 to 2001.
During the years between his WCW appearances, Ric Flair made his first of numerous appearances in the World Wrestling Federation, which is now called World Wrestling Entertainment, or WWE. He was the in-storyline co-owner of the organization for a short time while it was WWF, and would work with them from 2001 to 2009, and again starting in 2012. He also had a short stint with TNA Wrestling between 2010 and 2012.
Throughout his career, he has won numerous championships, awards, and honors from the different organizations he wrestled for and the media surrounding wrestling. He has won at least 16 world championships, possibly as many as 25, and has twice been entered into the WWE Hall of Fame. Ric Flair was both the first and the last to hold the WCW title.
His flamboyant behavior and distinctive “Wooooo!” cry have made Ric Flair an institution in wrestling to fans of many generations. His longevity in the industry has seen him claim to retire twice, only to return to the ring. In a recent appearance celebrating his 50th anniversary as a wrestler, he admitted that he would never retire, and even after a PPV called Ric Flair’s Last Match, the Nature Boy is already talking about lacing up the boots again.
Over the years, Ric Flair has tangled with other pro wrestlers both inside and outside the ring, forming rivalries against such figures as Bret Hart, Hulk Hogan, and Mick Foley. Some of his outlandish behavior has gone too far, causing controversy that has followed him throughout his career. The documentary The Dark Side of the Ring details an incident of sexual harassment he was directly involved in.
Ric Flair participated in the making of the Peacock documentary, making himself available for interviews and lining up other commenters. More than happy to promote himself at all times, he is very candid in the trailer about his evolution into his new persona. He even shows himself at vulnerable moments, such as footage taken during one of his hospitalizations, including his heart condition due to excessive alcohol use.
Woooooo! Becoming Rick Flair premieres on Peacock on December 26, and the streaming service promises that it will be an in-depth look at the wrestler, his life, and his career.
