Rachel Zegler’s Shazam 2 Role Revealed?

Rachel Zegler has been cast in the upcoming Shazam sequel, and it now seems as if her role has been revealed by the film's director.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods is the second installment of the Shazam! franchise. The film is based on the DC Comics character, Shazam. The first movie was released back in 2019, and overall, was a huge box office success. So, to keep fans appeased, a sequel to the film is set to be released at the end of this year. Of course, as the release date nears, new cast members have been revealed, like Rachel Zegler. But the greatest mystery is what character the actors will be playing. Fortunately, it seems we have a potential reveal of who Rachel Zegler will be portraying in the sequel. 

On Twitter, it seems fans might have gotten a potential hint as to who Rachel Zegler will be playing in the upcoming video. The post uploaded by David F. Sandberg shows who Zegler’s character could be. Sandberg is the director who worked on the first Shazam film and is now working on its sequel. The video starts off with Sandberg showing a poll with the popular question of who Zegler will be playing. He then shows the response to the poll, showing that most votes went to the character of Tawny. Sandberg then shifts the camera over to a small portion of the script, as he points to a character by the name of, “Girl.” But if looking closely at the script, Tawny also appears right there on the page. So, it seems that Zegler might be playing the role of Tawny in the Shazam sequel. See the video below: 

Shazam! Fury of the Gods will continue the story from the first film and will have a star-studded cast, such as Zachary Levi playing the title character, Rachel Zegler potentially playing Tawny, who is the humanoid Tiger that hangs out with Shazam, Helen Mirren playing Hespera, and Lucy Liu playing Kalypso. With a talented cast, the sequel is bound to be as good and entertaining as the first. According to Comic Book, producer Peter Safran discussed his thoughts and feelings about the first Shazam film in an interview with Collider. Safran brought up how he really enjoyed the first film, and that David Sandberg did a great job in bringing the DC character to life on the big screen. “I thought it was beautifully done. I thought that David Sandberg nailed that tone so incredibly well,” Safran stated.

Rachel Zegler, Helen Mirren, and Lucy Liu are have been the newest additions to the cast. Zegler isn’t a stranger to the big screen. She made her grand debut when she starred in the movie musical, West Side Story. Zegler played the role of Maria Vasquez alongside Ansel Elgort. Her performance in Steven Spielberg’s production earned her accolades and positive recognition from audiences and critics. The actress was nominated and won a Golden Globe award for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy. Zegler has a talent for performing, so it seems she can easily tackle any role that she has in the upcoming Shazam sequel. 

The initial release of the sequel has been altered and changed a couple of times. According to Variety, the movie was set to release in theaters in the summer of 2023 but has actually now moved up to December 2022. It appears fans won’t need to wait for another year to see the characters come to life in the sequel. Rachel Zegler has shown the world her talent and passion on the big screen. At the age of 20, the young starlet has just started her long career in the entertainment industry. And to top it all off, Zegler has just entered the world of superheroes. Fans will surely get more details and information about her role in the Shazam sequel as the release date nears.
