Quentin Tarantino Gets Brad Pitt For His Final Movie
Word has it that Brad Pitt will once again be working under Quentin Tarantino’s direction in his upcoming film, The Movie Critic. This is a huge development because until Deadline broke the news, the only other actor attached to the project was Paul Walter Hauser. Though sources originally speculated that Hauser would be taking on the lead role in the film, it’s worth noting that neither actor’s role has been announced at the time of this writing.
Quentin Tarantino Reuniting With Brad Pitt
Knowing he wants to go out with a bang, Quentin Tarantino has been quite tight-lipped about The Movie Critic. But now that we know Brad Pitt is involved, we have a better idea of the production schedule. Since Brad Pitt is currently working on the upcoming and yet-to-be-titled Joseph Kosinski Formula One action drama, we can reasonably assume that production for The Movie Critic won’t commence until that project is completed later this year or later.
Brad Pitt’s Role Is Shrouded In Mystery
As for the overall plot for the upcoming Quentin Tarantino film, we do know that it will be set in 1970s California and center on a film critic who reviews popular movies for a porno magazine called the Popstar Pages. Until Tarantino himself announces further developments, we will be left in the dark until more information surfaces. If we had to venture a guess, Brad Pitt will either be taking on the lead role or, at the very least, have a significant amount of screen time as a supporting actor.
Quentin Tarantino And Brad Pitt’s History Together
The Movie Critic marks the third time Quentin Tarantino and Brad Pitt have worked together on a feature film. In 2009, Pitt portrayed Lt. Aldo Raine in the infamous Inglourious Basterds, a twisted and historically inaccurate yet wildly entertaining take on Adolf Hitler’s downfall and assassination. They would reunite again to work on 2019’s Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, which landed Pitt an Oscar for best-supporting actor.
Who Will Join Brad Pitt?
Though we don’t know much else about The Movie Critic, it’s safe to say that Quentin Tarantino is already giving Brad Pitt and Paul Walter Hauser the rundown in preparation for production. Once more casting announcements are made, we’ll have a better idea as to how everything will play out. At the present moment, we’re also waiting to find out what studio will be attached to the film.
The End Of An Era
It’s sad that Quentin Tarantino will call it quits after his tenth and final film. But it’s beyond exciting to know that Brad Pitt will be involved in what will probably be yet another gritty and irreverent film full of snappy dialogue, profanity, and subversive storytelling that only Tarantino is capable of delivering. And it’s only fitting that The Movie Critic will be set in the ’70s, as Tarantino has gone on record numerous times stating how he loves the level of creative freedom filmmakers from that era were allowed to explore.
At this point, we’re just hoping for an announcement that Samuel L Jackson will be involved in some capacity as well, but we’d just be getting ahead of ourselves unless future developments tell us otherwise. We’ll report back with more information as it becomes available.
