Prison Break Stars Reunite For New Series
The long, hard wait for Prison Break fans is over: Dominic Purcell and Wentworth Miller, who endeared themselves to global audiences playing Lincoln Burrows and Michael Scofield in the hit Fox series, will be reuniting. They are set to star in a new drama series, Snatchback, presently in development at Universal Television.
Scott Rosenbaum wrote and executive produced the project, while Purcell, along with the head honchos at HopeTown Entertainment, will executive produce it.
Dominic Purcell And Wentworth Miller Reunite In Snatchback
Snatchback will trade in the confines of prison for the riveting world of international espionage; it’s inspired by the true story of a covert intelligence officer who is actually still active in the field. According to the logline, the project co-starring Dominic Purcell and Wentworth Miller concerns the exploits of an elite team of privately contracted operatives. Their task? Recovering hostages from an array of exotic and dangerous locations across the globe.
The Duo
Fans know that Purcell and Miller’s iconic collaboration in Prison Break lasted four seasons—from 2006 to 2009. A TV movie followed, The Final Break, and a belated revival season in 2017. But the duo’s unique on-screen chemistry has proved a brand unconfined to one franchise.
After all, both Dominic Purcell and Wentworth Miller appeared in the CW Arrowverse series The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow; Miller portrayed Leonard Snart, otherwise known as Captain Cold, and Purcell handled Mick Rory, aka Heat Wave.
Dominic Purcell
Dominic Purcell’s career has manifested an extensive and impressive filmography—from roles in projects like Blade: Trinity to Killer Elite, his presence draws crowds. Look out for the actor in the upcoming Paramount and Republic Pictures film Cassino In Ischia, which he will lead.
Wentworth Miller
For his part, just like Dominic Purcell, Wentworth Miller has also carved out an impressive and wide-ranging career since Prison Break. He’s notched memorable television roles in household name series such as Law & Order: SVU, The Human Stain, and Madam Secretary. Moreover, Miller also screenwrites, having composed the screenplay for the thriller Stoker, which Park Chan-wook directed.
From The Mind That Brought Us The Shield
Scott Rosenbaum, the driving and creative force behind Snatchback, is a major writer and executive producer. Much of his renown stems from his lauded work on The Shield, which aired on FX for seven seasons. Flanking this accomplishment are notable credits from projects like Check and Gang Related.
If this new series, which revives Dominic Purcell and Wentworth Miller, were not enough, Rosenbaum is also at work on a pirate drama, Sandokan, currently in production in Italy.
Prison Break
Created by Paul Scheuring, Prison Break told the saga of brothers Scofield and Burrows. The latter, wrongfully sentenced to death for a crime he did not commit, is joined in the big house by the former, both kid brother and a brilliant structural engineer. In the show’s winsome conceptual leap, Scofield deliberately locks himself up solely to orchestrate an elaborate escape plan.
A latter-day The Great Escape, the project masterfully combined action, suspense, intrigue, and unpredictable plot twists to great effect. Its relentless pace and high-stakes narrative captivated audiences. Plus, it introduced the world to Dominic Purcell and Wentworth Miller—a peerless case of on-screen chemistry.
Ultimately, Snatchback should comprise a must-watch series with Purcell and Miller back in action.
