Predator 5 Already On The Way?
Prey is the newest film in the long-standing Predator franchise, but the director of the film might be working on Predator 5 already.

Sometimes they say, “less is more.” However, sometimes giving us more of what we want is also the right direction to go. That seems to be the case for the Predator franchise, which is currently going through a revival by way of a new prequel film. The last film in the franchise was released in 2018 and was called The Predator and followed closely the same themes that most of the previous films had followed. Now, Prey is meant to take things back 300 years to the days of the Comanche warrior. A less advanced Predator will take on a less advanced but fierce Comanche named, Naru. The director of the film, Dan Trachtenberg, has a lot more planned for the future, and that could mean he is actively working on Predator 5.
According to Trachtenberg, “There are a lot of exciting ideas for what could be next for the franchise. The things that most excite me are the boldest swings and I think there’s scope to do other things that haven’t been done before.” One of those boldest swings is taking the Predator franchise back in history, which is a fantastic idea. That could mean that Predator 5 could do the same by taking the fiercest intergalactic assassin through another historical time. We aren’t saying that the creature should be taking down important leaders, because that would seem ridiculous, but a Predator in every period would be an interesting route to take. Considering that the Comanche were known to be a fierce warrior tribe, we could get a Predator in the time period when warriors like that existed. Imagine a Predator versus a Samurai.
Prey has made its home on Hulu, and the new prequel film is just weeks from premiering on August 5th. It has also been announced that Scott Ridley is working on a live-action Alien series for the streaming platform as well. That is wonderful news and could mean that Hulu might now be the place to see these new directions in both these franchises. Ridley is likely not going to want to do another crossover, but crazier things have happened. At some point, maybe Predator 5 and the subsequent sequels that follow will fall under the same period as the new Alien series, though Alien will certainly be set in space.
We are more than excited to see Prey, as it is a brand-new direction that should breathe some new life into the Predator franchise. Also, the ending of the prequel film could give us hints about when Predator 5 will take place. This is just speculation, but tons of franchises offer up post-credit scenes these days that hint at where the next movie might take place. We could be seeing what is going to happen with the franchise as early as August 5th.
Watch Prey on Hulu on August 5th. Also, be on the lookout for announcements of Predator 5, as it sounds like David Trachtenberg is already thinking about his next move. We would love to see Predator take on another significant period in history. Most of the Predator films have had to deal with conflicts on Earth, and there are plenty of historical times that contained some of the fiercest fighters.
