The popular science-focused post-apocalyptic anime series Dr. Stone is streaming on Crunchyroll. Based on the Japanese manga created by Riichiro Inagaki and Boichi, the anime was first released in 2019 and has earned a significant fan following. Dr. Stone Was A Successful Manga First
The Dr. Stone manga series made its debut in the pages of Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump in March 2017. Interestingly, this manga was chosen from a selection of story proposals Inagaki presented to his editor, even though nobody had a clear idea of how the narrative would unfold. Boichi, the illustrator, joined the project when Inagaki (a fan of Boichi’s work) had completed the chapter three storyboards.
The Dr. Stone manga serialization ended in March 2022 after a successful run. Shueisha collected the 232 individual chapters into twenty-six tankobon volumes, which were published between July 2017 and July 2022. An extra chapter was published on July 4, 2022. The series also gave rise to a spin-off, Dr. Stone Reboot: Byakuya, in 2019, which consisted of nine chapters.
