In addition to the next season in the series, the team mentioned a film, special episode, and live event.

Kaiju No. 8 was one of the more popular Spring 2024 anime. It had an average score of 8.32, which made it ranked #237 and gave it a popularity score of #562 on My Anime List.

Because of how many people loved this series, it was an anime series that many hoped to get a second season. While popularity isn’t always enough to get a second season, it seemed to work well for Kaiju No. 8

Happy Birthday Kafka

On August 5, Kafka’s birthday and “No. 8” day, the official website for Kaiju No. 8 announced the sequel of the series. Not only did it say the second season was on its way, but that it would be available for fans sometime in 2025.

The second season wasn’t the only interesting information Kaiju No. 8 fans got to hear. The team revealed that a film would be coming out and that it would be a compilation of scenes from Season 1. There would also be a special episode, “Hoshina’s Day Off,” to go with the release.

This film and special episode will hit Japan’s theaters also sometime next year. Additionally, on June 1, 2025, there will be a live event featuring the voice actors from Kaiju No. 8 held in Kannai Hall in Yokohama.

Same Crew, Same Voice Actors

At the moment, it appears that Tomomi Kamiya (Gintama’) with Production I.G. (Attack on Titan: The Final) will continue directing the series, with Ichiro Okouchi (Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2) in charge of series composition and Tetsuya Nishio (Naruto: Shippuuden) in charge of character designs. The voice actors will also remain the same for Kaiju No. 8, barring any unforeseen changes.

Picking Up Where Season 1 Ended

Season 2 of Kaiju No. 8 will continue where Season 1 ended. The first season followed Kafka Hibino (Masaya Fukunishi), who wanted nothing more than to join the Defense Force after seeing the heroes save everyone when one of the monsters attacked their village. When he was younger, he and his friend Mina Ashiro (Asami Seto) promised to enlist together.

Season 1 Is On Crunchyroll

The two end up going their own ways, with Mina reaching her goal and Kafka letting his dreams fall to the side. Later, Kafka meets Reno Ichikawa (Wataru Katou), who is also determined to join the Defense Force. The passion Reno exhibits is enough to remind Kafka of his promise to protect the world and meet up with his friend on the force, even after he ends up gravely injured.

Already, Crunchyroll has acknowledged the new season of Kaiju No. 8. When the series updates, it will be streaming the new episodes alongside the first season. If you haven’t seen the first season of Kaiju No. 8 yet, it’s time to sit down and watch it on Crunchyroll.
