Guardians Of The Galaxy Star Confirms James Gunn DCU Talks
Ever since James Gunn first took over creative control of the DCU, rumors have circulated suggesting the filmmaker might try to convince a few of his favorite Marvel collaborators to jump ship and join his new cast. Now, according to a write-up in Deadline, Guardians of the Galaxy‘s Pom Klementieff has confirmed that she has been discussing the possibility of joining the DCU with the acclaimed director. Despite this confirmation, Klementieff refused to state which character she’d specifically like to bring to life, humorously asking reporters “Do you really think I’m going to answer this question?”
Klementieff Isn’t The Only Marvel Actor Who Will Be Working For DC
Pom Klementieff is just one of several Marvel actors expected to enter the DCU’s new line-up in the coming years. Other James Gunn affiliates in this niche include Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillian, and even Chris Pratt.
Gunn has already confirmed that other repeat actors have joined his cinematic universe in recent months, including Nathan Fillion and Gunn’s own brother, Sean Gunn, who portrayed Master Karja and Kraglin in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, respectively.
The Suicide Squad
Pom Klementieff’s revelation regarding her DCU status came during an appearance at San Antonio’s Superhero Comic Con, where she explained that she enjoys working alongside James Gunn and would love to keep doing so.
Still, the French screen actress elaborated that she does have one specific role in mind for her DC debut, though she has not officially been cast just yet. Technically, Klementieff appeared for a brief scene in Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, though she was not credited, and served primarily as an on-screen Easter egg for superhero movie super-fans.
People Love Working With Gunn
Clearly, James Gunn has a powerful hold over his friends in the industry, as numerous actors are willing to go above and beyond to maintain their working relationship with him.
While Pom Klementieff was discussing her DCU future, she explained that she initially wanted to join the X-Men team before ever getting involved with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Then, after catching the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie, she was elated to get a central role in the following two installments.
Currently, there’s still room for Klementieff to continue appearing in future Marvel films, though the future of the Guardians of the Galaxy in the MCU is unclear.
Crossover?
While it would certainly be exciting for fans of Gunn’s work to catch Pom Klementieff and others in the DCU, it would certainly make things difficult if Gunn ever intends to launch a crossover event between the two massive franchises.
While such an event seems nearly impossible to begin with, it wouldn’t be completely unheard of, as Sony has already reached an agreement to share IP with Marvel Studios for the Tom Holland Spider-Man movies. Gunn claims that his newfound place at the head of the DC table makes a DC and Marvel crossover more likely than ever before.
