One of those most exciting aspects of the upcoming Black Adam DC film is that Pierce Brosnan is finally joining superhero continuity. Well, if we are being honest, he was a superhero when portraying James Bond. However, he is now going to be fully suited up as Dr. Fate, one of the eponymous heroes that are likely to band together to stop Black Adam or someone that will be considered an ally to the new anti-hero. However, Brosnan took to his Instagram to show off a behind-the-scenes photo of what he is going to look like as the good doctor. You can see the photo below:
Pierce Brosnan will be appearing in the film as the newer version of Dr. Fate, otherwise known as Kent Nelson. Fate is arguably the most powerful sorcerer in the DC universe, as the Helmet of Fate grants the wearer a host of superpowers that include, magic-wielding, flight, brief invulnerability, multiverse traveling capabilities, and many more. Basically, Fate is what Doctor Strange is to the MCU. Brosnan posted a dramatic photo that shows off his gelled up grey hair and accompanying grey beard. He is clearly meant to give off the dated version of the character that has likely been traversing the multiverse for some time. Fate and Black Adam have a lot in common, as both are granted powers through Egyptian deities and artifacts.
Black Adam has been delayed several times, but the new DC property is meant to debut on October 21, 2022. Dwayne Johnson, who is playing the titular role, has kept fans updated with plenty of behind-the-scenes photos of the production crew hard at work to bring this long-awaited film to the masses. It’s good that Pierce Brosnan is also following suit by showing off a brief glimpse of what his version of Dr. Fate is meant to look like. The other DC characters that will be tasked with either taking down Black Adam or assisting him are Atom Smasher, Cyclone, and Hawkman.
There are few details known about the plot of the film, other than the fact that Black Adam is released form his tomb, and he plans to enact his own form of justice on the world. This could mean that his form of justice might not be what the rest of the world thinks justice means. The film is serving as a spinoff and sequel to Shazam! so it could mean that we may see Zachary Levi reprise his role at some point in the film. Or rather, they are going to meet after Black Adam and Shazam! Fury of the Gods comes out. Black Adam and Shazam have been known to throw down quite a bit with one another in the comics. Hopefully, Pierce Brosnan remains as Dr. Fate for more than just one film.
Dwayne Johnson, Pierce Brosnan, Noah Centineo, Albert Rothstein, Aldis Hodge, Quintessa Swindell, and Sarah Shahi all round out the cast for this upcoming DC feature. Johnson has stated many times that the plan is to make Black Adam a huge figure in the DC film continuity, and the hope is that it can breathe new life into a franchise that has waned quite a bit in the last five years.
