See Pierce Brosnan Transformed Into Black Adam’s Doctor Fate
We are getting our first glimpse of what legend Pierce Brosnan could look like as Doctor Fate in the upcoming DC film Black Adam
This article is more than 2 years old
Pierce Brosnan has plenty of action roles under his belt at this point, having taken part in all manners of heist films along with bouts of espionage along the way. But the guy has never entered the comic book ranks before on screen. He’s waited until hitting almost 70-years-old before becoming an actual superhero and no, James Bond doesn’t count on that front. He’s been cast in the role of Doctor Fate in the upcoming film Black Adam and now we have our first chance to catch a glimpse of what he’s going to look like in the suit.
The new look for Pierce Brosnan comes from Twitter user and art director @BossLogic who took the chance to put the actor into the character’s suit and give an idea of what will happen when we see this happen on the big screen. Check out what Doctor Fate could look like with Brosnan in the role:
Frankly, this looks just awesome. The rendering plays definitively on Pierce Brosnan being a bit older than your typical superhero and in this new flick, he’s likely to take on more of a sage role considering his age. In this, the wizard idea of the character is played up more with the long white beard adding to the effect even more. The Doctor Fate suit looks a bit more intricate than another time we’ve seen the character in a live-action spot and the ornamental dress does lend a sophisticated, but darker tone to the character.
Donning the helmet of Nabu is what gives Doctor Fate his powers and that’s what we see in the right-side picture. In this way, it’s reminiscent of the character from the comic book pages with the shimmering gold and yellow hue looking every bit the style for this guy. Presumably, Pierce Brosnan will be playing the Kent Nelson version of the character in Black Adam, though that specific news hasn’t yet been confirmed.
This is an exciting casting time for the DC Extended Universe with Pierce Brosnan just being confirmed in the cast for Black Adam. The film will have Dwayne Johnson in the titular role. Considering the overall casting announcements, this movie will follow Black Adam and his introduction to the Justice Society of America. In addition to Doctor Fate, other members of this group who’ve already been cast are Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, and Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone. Johnson took to Twitter to welcome the newest cast member to the crew.
Black Adam was originally scheduled for release in December of this year, but that timeline has been scrapped and moved because of pandemic-related closures and some other production issues. The movie is apparently closely related to the events in the other DC hit Shazam! in which Johnson was supposed to make a cameo. That didn’t happen either, but it does look like production is starting to ramp up now. And this latest look at Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate is making it feel even more real at this point. It should only be a matter of time before we start getting even more definitive looks at the different characters.
