Peter Dinklage Is Quitting Acting?
Peter Dinklage is looking forward to the rest of his career, choosing to continue pursuing acting as he gets older.
Game of Thrones changed the way we, as fans and studios, look at the industry, jump-starting the careers of Emilia Clarke, Sophie Turner, and Jason Momoa and making household names of a few others. One of the actors that became well-known thanks to his time on the set of the fantasy series is Peter Dinklage, who portrayed the wise and steady Tyrion Lannister for 67 episodes throughout the eight seasons. Four years after the series finale, the veteran actor revealed to Deadline that he isn’t going anywhere and is continuing to seek out his acting roles.
While promoting his new film, She Came to Me, at the Berlin Film Festival, Peter Dinklage addressed the possibility of continuing in the acting world at the age of 53. His response left no question about his commitment to the craft, saying that when an actor turns 50, there is a fork in the road and a choice to either sit back and wait for inspiration or actively seek it out. The actor then revealed that he had made the decision to continue to seek it out, committing to his acting career for the near future.
The new film Peter Dinklage is promoting follows the story of Steven, a composer suffering from writer’s block. After an adventurous one-night stand, he rediscovers his passion for both life and music. She Came to Me also stars Marissa Tomei (My Cousin Vinny and Spider-Man: No Way Home) and Anne Hathaway (Les Miserable and The Devil Wears Prada).
While the actor may have become a household name thanks to his role as one of the Lannister children in Game of Thrones, he already had a long career before that. He broke onto the scene with roles in both English and American versions of Death at a Funeral, Elf, and Chronicles of Narnia. Peter Dinklage also found himself landing some voice work in the Ice Age films.
Since his breakthrough role as Tyrion Lannister, Dinklage’s career blew up, and he found himself in two separate Marvel franchises. The first was when he appeared as Dr. Boliver Trask in X-Men: Days of Future Past alongside James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, and Michael Fassbender. The second was when he made a surprise cameo as Eitri, the builder of weapons in Avengers: Infinity War, alongside the rest of the Avengers cast of Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., and Tom Holland when he forged Stormbreaker for Thor (Chris Hemsworth).
Peter Dinklage is one of the most unique actors in Hollywood and continues to prove that he has the kind of range to portray any kind of character thrown at him. Of course, you have to be at the top of your game if you are going to stand next to the likes of Anne Hathaway and Marissa Tomei, which he is hoping that fans of his new film will see. If you are a fan of the Game of Thrones actor, you don’t have to worry anytime soon that he is going to ride off into the sunset.
