Pete Davidson Is Going To Space
Blast off Pete!
What do Pete Davidson and William Shatner have in common? Well, the answer it seems is space, the final frontier. It turns out that the pair have a mutual friend in Amazon’s Jeff Bezos. According to Comicbook.com, Davidson is going to be the latest celebrity to join Bezos aboard his next space flight.
Although a deal isn’t concrete, the report suggests that the plan to have Pete Davidson follow in the footsteps of Star Trek legend William Shatner and NFL hero Michael Strahan in boarding the Blue Origin has been in the works for some time now. This is due to the Saturday Night Live star being previously seen in attendance at Bezos’ home earlier this year, perhaps marking the beginning of their space travel negotiations. Apparently, the comic superstar is “close to signing a deal” and those close to him have been quoted as saying: “Pete is excited…They haven’t signed a contract yet, but it looks like it’s going to happen. The details are being finalized… He got on really well with Jeff when they met.”
Pete Davidson is going to space then. The 21st Century truly is full of surprises. However, Davidson might have to measure his excitement for his future space travel as no concrete take-off date has been planned. The mission is currently t-minus unknown. If one were to map out the time between previous flights of the Blue Origin vessel, then Davidson’s adventure will likely take place in a few months. Bezos went up and out of the big blue last July, Shatner became the oldest man in space last October and Strahan took to the outer atmosphere and beyond in December.
This story perhaps could cause a media segway for Davidson. Pete Davidson is obviously best known as a mainstay on Saturday Night Live, he has also gone on to star in film as well with the likes of The King of Staten Island and his hilarious but brief cameo in The Suicide Squad (2021). Another big draw of Davidson is the media hype around his often broadcast relationships. His engagement and break-up with pop superstar Ariana Grande meant Davidson was often in the spotlight. Now, as of late, Davidson is now caught in the wrath of Kanye West, as the Staten Island Native comedian is reportedly in a relationship with Kim Kardashian. Perhaps a brief interlude in space will be a welcome relief for Davidson amidst all the Kanye ‘beef?’
As well as space on the mind, Pete Davidson does have a slew of acting projects coming up in the near future. He is appearing in the h\orror slasher/comedy Bodies Bodies Bodies, the film, presented by A24 and directed by Halina Reijn will premiere at this month’s SXSW Film Festival. Other projects on Pete Davidson’s slate include starring alongside Kaley Cuoco in time-bending rom-com Meet Cute and bringing his voice to legendary canine Marmaduke. Also in pre-production is The Home, directed by James DeMonaco and starring Davidson in the role of Max, a man who finds that the residents of the care home he has started working in have a sinister side. It looks like 2022 is set to be a busy yet fruitful year for Davidson, with space travel being the icing on the cake.
