Penelope Cruz is just as stunning as ever in her recent Instagram post. The tasteful black-and-white pictures accentuate Cruz’s natural beauty and the simple black outfit helps to give the photo shoot a subtle quality. As noted in her caption Cruz shot the pics for Dust Magazine.
2022 was a pretty busy year for Penelope Cruz as she starred in three different films, one of which was an Italian-language film and another a Spanish-language film. However, Cruz kicked off the year with the Hollywood film The 355, which was a solid spy thriller led by Jessica Chastain. The 355 followed a CIA agent who teams up with three international agents to recover a dangerous weapon after it falls into the wrong hands.
Along with Jessica Chastain and Penelope Cruz, the film also starred Diane Kruger, Lupita Nyong’o, Fan Bingbing, and Sebastian Stan. Simon Kinberg directed the film and co-wrote the screenplay with Theresa Rebeck. Though the film has 26% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, audiences liked it well enough and it currently has 86% in that category.
In short, your results may vary if you check out The 355, but it is streaming on Amazon Prime Video if you missed it. Although it didn’t reach as wide of an audience, Penelope Cruz’s second film of 2022 fared much better with the critics. The Italian-language film L’immensita has an 80% from critics.
L’immensita stars Penelope Cruz as Clara, in a drama set in 1970s Rome. In October, Cruz produced and starred in the Spanish film En los margenes (On the Fringe), which tells a series of interwoven stories that happen throughout the course of one day. To cap off her year, Cruz also accepted Spain’s National Cinematography Prize at the San Sebastian Film Festival.
Although Penelope Cruz doesn’t have a ton of projects on her slate for 2023, she will be starring in what is sure to be one of the biggest dramas of the year. Cruz is set to play Laura Ferrari, wife of Enzo, in the biopic Ferrari. The film will star Adam Driver in the titular role along with a cast that includes Jack O’Connell, Shailene Woodley, Sarah Gadon, Patrick Dempsey, Valentina Bella, Gabriel Leone, and more.
Ferrari will be the latest directorial feature from the great Michael Mann, who hasn’t directed a feature film since 2015’s Blackhat. With an incredible cast that includes Adam Driver and Penelope Cruz, Ferrari could be the return to form for Mann that fans have been waiting on. Mann also adapted the screenplay with Troy Kennedy-Martin based on the book by Brock Yates.
Unfortunately, we don’t have a solid release date for Michael Mann’s Ferrari yet, so there’s no telling when we’ll get to see Penelope Cruz grace the big screen again. Presumably, we can expect to see Ferrari sometime in 2023, as IMDb says the film is in post-production, though there are no guarantees. Until then, we’ll just have to follow Cruz’s Instagram to see what the actress is up to nowadays.
