Pedro Pascal Leaves Weapons Movie From Barbarian Director, Marvel Is To Blame?
Being zaddy is tough – just ask Pedro Pascal. While we loved his run on Game of Thrones and Narcos, the actor’s career has really taken off in the last few years with his critically acclaimed appearances in titles including The Mandalorian and The Last of Us. But with all of his castings, Pascal is finding it difficult to keep everything on the docket as he recently was forced to back out Zach Cregger’s latest production, Weapons.
Pedro Pascal’s Stacked Schedule
Pedro Pascal was initially cast in the leading role in the upcoming film from the Barbarian director but he just can’t seem to make everything work with his incredibly stacked schedule. Despite wearing a sling to the Golden Globe Awards after an injury from a tumble, it seems as though filming for Season 2 of The Last of Us is on course for February. With new casting updates rolling out daily, we know that Pascal and his co-star, Bella Ramsey, will also be joined by Kaitlyn Dever, Young Mazino, and Isabela Merced.
Gladiator 2
The Last of Us is the first of Pedro Pascal’s projects set to film in the new year with no signs of slowing down after that. The actor has also joined ranks with Paul Mescal and Denzel Washington in Ridley Scott’s Gladiator 2, a follow-up to his box office-crushing 2000 film, Gladiator. The film has been a long time coming for Scott who, like Pascal, has kept a busy schedule over the last two decades but filming is finally set to pick up this spring with a release date set for later this year. After that, Pedro Pascal will be moving on to a noir thriller from Giada Colagrande titled Tropico. A movie about spies and a love triangle, Pascal will star in the feature alongside Deadpool franchise actress Morena Baccarin and Poor Things’ Willem Dafoe.
The Mandalorian & Grogu
Perhaps most exciting for fans was the recent news that Pedro Pascal would be continuing with the Star Wars universe in an even bigger way than before – in feature-length form. Just days ago, it was announced that Jon Favreau will be behind the project that will see the tiny creature lovingly dubbed Baby Yoda pal around with The Mandalorian on a larger scale than we’ve seen over the three-season Disney+ series.
While specifics haven’t been revealed at this time, it’s likely that Pascal and a handful of other favorites from the series, which is now moving toward a fourth season, will appear.
Could Marvel Be To Blame For His Exit From Weapons?
And then, there’s Marvel. While nothing has been set in stone Pedro Pascal is reportedly the frontrunner to step into the role of Reed Richards aka Mister Fantastic in the studio’s upcoming Fantastic Four film. There have been a lot of rumors surrounding this one so we’re sitting tight with our excitement for now but Pascal’s casting seems to be almost a sure thing.
Expect A Lot More From Pedro Pascal
With so many projects being juggled, it’s understandable that Pedro Pascal had to cut one from his hefty production calendar. For fans of Cregger’s work and the horror genre in general, it would’ve been thrilling to see Pascal in a spooky role outside of the similar characters he’s played in the past. But, for now, we’re just happy that he’s recuperating from his injury and on track for filming The Last of Us Season 2 and all the other gigs on his docket.Source: The Insneider
